Horses and jockeys at the starting gate of Belmont Park during a race.

Heading into 4th of July weekend, we have an extended racing week at Belmont Park. A solid Sunday kept the train from going off the rails, now its time to build momentum. Although Thursday’s card doesn’t warrant lengthy discussion. there are a few playable races we can attack. Skip

Race 1: 6 Furlongs. (Inner Turf) F.Mdn 90k

#4 Love Tank (9/2) – This filly ran much better than it looks on paper in her debut at Belmont. After she was slammed hard at the start, she finished well against a heavy frontrunner race flow. She should take a big step forward here.

Race 5: 1 1/16 Mile. (Inner Turf) S.Mdn 75k

#6 Compromiser (5/1) – His debut was clearly a prep for this spot, now he stretches out and switches to the surface he’s bred for. Additionally, Saez takes the mount for a small barn which is a good sign.

#7 Kingdom on Paws (20/1) – Underneath bomb

Race 6: 6 Furlongs. Clm 25000n2L

*Gullet Shot of the Day #9 Vincent (12/1) – Though the Ductor liked his maiden breaker two back, then he was thrust against too tough last time. Now he drops back to a level that suits him today and he has every chance against this group. The Ductor sees #1 Devil’s Code (9/5) as vulnerable favorite here. He’s taking a suspicious drop in class and also draws the rail after a long break.

Race 8: 1 3/8 Mile. (Inner Turf) Alw 92000n1x

#1 Balthus (5/1), #6 Hard Rye Guy (12/1), #9 Hilliard (6/1)
