Saturdays Football Refund: The Conductor’s Plays at Del Mar

Three individuals dressed in fashionable attire, with hats and drinks, posing together at a social gathering.

Not a great Friday for the Conductor, with his top picks choosing to run in 2nd and 3rds.  He did have a couple of big prices in 2nd, so hopefully a few passengers made some money in the exotics.  The Conductor is demanding winners today and we have a nice fall card in front of us at Del Mar.  Let’s make a big score today and gorge ourselves tonight. Let’s Ride.

Del Mar

3:30pm ET Race 1: 7 Furlongs. Mdn 53k

#1 Light of the World (5/1) – Baffert’s two colts will take all the money in here and will be tough to beat, but this is the boy that can take them down.  He cost 500k, is posting bullet works and Prat hops aboard for Mandella, which is always a very dangerous jockey/trainer combo.

4:00pm ET Race 2: 1 Mile. Mdn 53k

#6 Caribbean (3/1) – He’s steadily progressed in his first three starts and ran a good 2nd last time against a talented runner Air Strike, who came back to win his next start.  Most importantly, this race has absolutely no pace and he should get a perfect trip on or near the lead.

4:30pm ET Race 3: 6½ Furlongs. Clm 16000n2L

*Gullet Shot of the Day #5 Catch Fire (8/1) – He is dropping in class and switching back to his preferred dirt surface today.  His maiden breaking score over this Del Mar track would smoke this field.  8/1 is a major overlay.

Del Mar

#2 Street Zombie (8/1) – Closing into a slow pace last start the conductor loves his upside.  That last race produced next out winners and he’s been gelded since then.  He’s posting faster works than he ever has and should get a nice trip today with a lot of pace to run at.

5:00pm ET Race 4: 6 Furlongs. F.Clm 25000

#7 Come On Kat (7/2) – This is a tough betting race with no standouts and no bums.  Drawn well to the outside, she can dictate her trip and put them away down the lane.

5:30pm ET Race 5: 5 Furlongs. (Turf) OC 40000b

#8 Hitters Park (3/1) – Trainer Doug O’Neill is 24% with a +$0.11 ROI 1st off the claim this year and this gelding should step forward in his 2nd start off the layoff.  He has good early speed and has run well over the Del Mar turf, while the other favorites have not.

6:00pm ET Race 6: 6½ Furlongs. Clm 16000n2L

#8 Livin On Prayer (6/1) – Pressing a hot pace routing last start, he’ll appreciate the cutback in distance.  His speed figures sprinting give him every chance and trainer Peter Miller is 26% with a +$1.23 ROI going route to sprint this year.

6:30pm ET Race 7: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.S.Mdn 53k

#5 Miss Voluptuous (8/1) – She’s a 1st time starter against a very weak group and is well bred for the turf.  Why is top jockey Flavien Prat riding for a barn that rarely wins with 1st time starters? Hmmmmmmm…….

7:00pm ET Race 8: 7 Furlongs. G3 Bob Hope Stakes

#2 Extra Hope (7/2) – He’s steadily moving forward and exiting a blowout win routing last start.  The Conductor loves that he’s cutting back in distance and will have the strongest late kick in a race where the others will be going further than they ever have.

7:30pm ET Race 9;: 6½ F. Clm 8000

*Never a Doubt Saturday Night College Football Loser Bailout Lock of the Day #8 Baby Bear’s Soup (5/1) – 2nd off the claim for trainer Steve Knapp he set a blistering pace last time and faded late.  He has a pace edge against this group and has run the fastest figures in this field.  His works leading into today suggest he’s ready to run his best, and his best will slaughter this field.

Friday Night’s Funding: The Conductor’s Plays at Del Mar

Horses and jockeys starting a race from the starting gates at Del Mar Racetrack.

Let’s have a hell of a Friday Night at Del Mar, Let’s Ride.

3:30pm ET Race 1: 6½ Furlongs. OClm 50000

#1 Bea’s Boy (5/1) – He is steadily progressing, and he’s been facing much tougher competition.  He has tied for the highest fig in this field over the Del Mar Surface and the Conductor is praying his price stays close to his morning line.

4:00pm ET Race 2: 6 Furlongs. Clm 16000

#1 Bob’s All In (6/1) – His numbers fit against this field and his best races have come on the Del Mar dirt.  There should be a decent pace in front of him to run at, giving him a chance to launch from the back.  The Conductor will key him in the exacta.

4:30pm ET Race 3: 5 Furlongs. (Turf) Mdn 53k

*Friday Night Bottle Service Lock of the Day #3 Truck Salesman (5/1) – A 5/1 lock? Damn Straight.  He has legit early gas and his lone race over the Del Mar turf would beat this field.  He’s a first time gelding and gets 5 lb weight break with the bug aboard.  Gate to wire victory, book it.

Del Mar

5:00pm ET Race 4: 6 ½ Furlongs. F. 625000n2x

#4 Dominating Women (7/2) – The Conductor likes the versatility she’s shown winning over multiple surface and different tracks.  She loves winning and Conductor can easily back a horse with his mentality.

5:30pm ET Race 5: 6 ½ Furlongs. S.MC 50000

#8 Sea of Liberty (20/1) – The Conductor thinks this race is ripe for a big price with the favorite drawing the rail.  This boy is a first-time starter whose dam has produced multiple debut winners.  The Conductor also loves to see a high-quality rider aboard with Geovanni Franco taking the mount.

6:00pm ET Race 6: 1 Mile. Clm 32000

#4 Avanti Bello (7/2) – He’s a hard knocker, proven winner and in great form.  When he’s going well, he is very tough to beat.

6:30pm ET Race 7: 1 1/8 Mile. F.OC 80000n2x

#2 Stradella Road (20/1) – The longest shot on the board and the filly the Conductor will key in the trifecta.  She continues to progress and the Conductor loved her maiden breaking score last start, holding off the favorite with ease.  She is taking a major step up in class today, but another small improvement makes her competitive.

7:00pm ET Race 8: 1 Mile. MC 20000

*Gullet Shot of the Day #4 Elevate (10/1) – His races on the turf and over the Santa Anita dirt haven’t been good, but this race is at Del Mar.  His lone race over this track was by far his best and would make him very dangerous against this weak field.  He also gets a 7-lb weight break.

Thursday’s Throat Shots at Del Mar: The Conductor’s Plays

Three jockeys in colorful uniforms walking towards a racetrack with spectators in the background.

Del Mar time, Let’s Ride.

3:30pm ET Race 1: 5 Furlongs. (Turf) F.Mdn 53k

#7 Rather Nosy (3/1) – Well bet in his debut, this filly has the strongest last out performance closing strongly into a slow pace.  She’s working like a rocket and smells like a winner.

*Underneath Uppercut #6 Miss Algeria (10/1) – She ran a figure close to par in her debut on dirt and her breeding suggests she’ll improve on turf.  A step forward will give her every chance to win. Trainer Victor Garcia is 19% with a +$1.33 ROI with 2nd time starters this year.

Del Mar

4:00pm ET Race 2: 1 Mile. MC 50000

#4 Rockandahardplace (4/1) – He pressed a hot pace on turf last start and still finished for a solid 4th.  The winner of that race, won his next start and this gelding has 2nd at this level over this Del Mar surface.  There is not much to like about this group, at least he has a few positives.

4:30pm ET Race 3: 1 Mile. F.OC 40000n1x

#4 Starr of Quality (3/1) – Steadily progressing and with the fastest last out speed figure on a fast dirt surface, the Conductor will take a shot against the odds on favorite #2 Mo See Cal (7/5).  The favorite’s figures stand above this group on turf and an off track, but he’s 0/2 and hasn’t hit the board on a fast dirt track.  That’s what he’ll be facing today.

5:00pm ET Race 4: 1 1/16. (Turf) F.MC 62500

#2 Breezy Bee (4/1) – She’s been off since last year, but the Conductor doesn’t like this fields’ current turf form.  She has shown the strongest late pace figures of the bunch and the Desormeaux brothers have been hot on the turf.

#8 Bella Papa (10/1) – This is a good race to use a 1st time starter, it looks like a very weak group.  She’s well-bred for the turf and trainer Phil D’Amato is 11% with a +$2.20 ROI this year debuting runners on the grass.

5:30pm ET Race 5: 1 Mile. F.Clm 16000n2L

*Never a Doubt Stone Cold Lock of the Day #1 K P’s Smokin (5/2) – She ran a good 3rd last start closing from the clouds. Now  2nd of the claim for trainer Steve Knapp she should be ready to run her best.  Her lone race over this Del Mar surface was her strongest performance.

Del Mar

6:00pm ET Race 6: 5 Furlongs. (Turf) F.Mdn 53k

#7 Data Storm Kitty (6/1) – Her debut effort on dirt makes her more than dangerous today.  She is posting lightning works and the Conductor likes that she’s getting another chance on turf despite a dull effort last time.  The leader turning for home is especially dangerous in a 5 furlong sprint.

6:30pm ET Race 7: 1 Mile. S.OC 20000n2x

#6 King Abner (6/1) – His speed figures sprinting make him competitive against this group and his late pace figs suggest he’ll have no problem stretching out.  There are no standouts in this field.

7:00pm ET Race 8: 1 3/8. (Turf) OC 40000n1x

*Gullet Shot of the Day #7 Epical (10/1) – If the Conductor gets anywhere near 10/1 on this gelding he’ll unload every penny he has on the train.  He’s faced much tougher company his entire career. Additionally, he’s run his two best races over this Del Mar turf course.  Either of those efforts will beat this group.

Wednesday’s Winners: The Conductor’s Plays at Aqueduct

Horses and jockeys starting a race at Aqueduct Racetrack with starting gates open.

Small fields at Aqueduct due to races coming off the turf today, but the Conductor wont complain. He’ll play the cards he’s dealt and pick eight winners in a row.  Let’s build our bankroll midweek, Let’s Ride.

12:50pm ET Race 1: 1 1/8 Mile. Clm 25000n2L

#3 Malibu Strings (8/5) – Dropping in class and switching back to dirt, the Conductor likes him better than the odds on favorite #2 Purchasing Power.  Malibu Strings is lightly raced, improving, and should get a perfect trip on or near a slow pace.

1:18pm ET Race 2: 6 Furlongs. Clm 10000

#2 Toohottoevenspeak (6/1) – The heavy favorite #1A Big Guy Ian (3/5) looks tough to beat in here, but the Conductor can pull a little value out of this race.  Eligible to improve in his 2nd start off the layoff, this gelding is cutting back to a sprint and drops in class.  He loves to run 2nd and 3rd and that’s what the Conductor expects him to do.  He’ll hammer a stone cold 1/2 exacta and sprinkle a little on the reverse.

1:47pm ET Race 3: 1 Mile. (OFF Turf) Mdn 70k

#13 Greyes Creek (4/1) – This 850k Chad brown runner ran a par effort for this level in a race taken off the turf last time.  He gets the same circumstances again today and gets added distance, which his breeding suggests he’ll appreciate.

#16 Lone Pioneer (8/1) – He’s steping up in class, but he is also the only MTO runner in this field.  His debut effort was solid, and he wants to run on dirt, while the others want grass.

2:17 pm ET Race 4: 6 Furlongs. (Off Turf) F.Clm 35000n3L’

#12 Our Girl Abby (5/2) – The Conductor can’t explain why she was so bad last race, but she’s shown a tendency to be an “in and outer.” Good race, bad race, good race, bad race.  Her good race beats this field.

2:47 Race 5: 6 Furlongs. F.Clm 32000

*Gullet Shot of the Day #6 Clairvoyant Lady (9/2) – 1st off the claim for top trainer Jerimiah Englehart and 2nd off a layoff, she looks primed to run a top effort.  She has past performances that make her competitive against this group and is a very consistent runner.  She also hasn’t missed the board in all 4 career starts at Aqueduct.

Aqueduct

3:17pm ET Race 6: 1 1/8 Mile. Alw 75000n1x

*Never a Doubt Hump Day Lock #5 Mr. Buff (3/1) – He’s likely to be the third betting choice in this field and he’s quite simply the fastest horse on the Conductor’s numbers. He was beaten at Aqueduct two starts back by rivals in here, but he brushed the gate at the start of that race.  His performance last time in the Empire Classic smokes this field.

Aqueduct

3:47pm ET Race 7: 6 Furlongs. (OFF Turf) S.OC 40000n2x

*Throat Slit #1 Shiraz (8/1) – His win two starts back on dirt can beat this group and he’ll be a big price.  He’s only raced 3 times on a fast dirt track in his career and it could be what he wants best.

#10 Royal Asset (6/1) – 2nd off the claim for Rudy Rod he will likely take a step forward and his last race on grass was very solid.  The Conductor is confused why they even want to run him on turf. He’s 4/10 on dirt and 1/10 on turf lifetime.

4:17pm ET Race 8: 7 Furlongs. F.S.MC 25000

#6 Lovely Escort (5/1) – Facing tougher open company at Aqueduct, she showed speed in her first two starts and then fallen apart late.  She gets Lasix today, suggesting she bled last time and the lead will make any horse dangerous in here.  This group is week.

#1 Stay Good (5/2) – Well bet at Saratoga, she had a trip from hell in her debut.  If she has any ability like Rudy Rod thinks she does, she’ll beat this field for fun.

Tuesday’s Truly Degenerate Plays at Parx

Architectural rendering of the Parx Casino exterior featuring colorful triangular structures and a modern building design.

The Conductor’s going for bombs today…..Let’s See if Parx can handle these prices.

2:13pm ET Race 5: 1m70yds. Clm 12500n4L

#3 Gotta Get Away (9/2) -This gelding ran on a fast dirt track for the first time in his 21-race career and ran a career best speed figure.  It was also a higher figure than any of these others’ last race.  He’ll get a fast dirt track at Parx again today and the Conductor will bet it’s exactly what he’s been looking for all along.

2:40pm ET Race 6: 6 Furlongs. Clm 7500n1y

#5 Yourdreamsormine (12/1) – Setting a brutally fast pace in his last start vs tougher, he understandably faded badly down the stretch.  His early pace figures give him an early lead in this one and this group is much weaker.  The lead will be dangerous and trainer Miguel Penaloza is hitting at a 23% clip with a gaudy +$3.14 ROI with runners 2nd start off the claim this year.

#9 Red Dragon Tattoo (6/1) – He’s taking an even bigger class drop and has been forced to run on a sloppy track in his last four starts.  He hasn’t gotten a fast track since April.  He has multiple past performances that would beat this group on a fast track.  The Conductor sees him returning to form today over his preferred surface.

Double Gullets

Parx

3:07pm ET Race 7: 1 Mile. F.Clm 25000n2L

#1 Shanghai Tootsie (10/1) – She broke her maiden in her first start routing last time.  Although that figure came back low, her previous performances in California make her competitive in here.  The rail post is winning at an 18% clip in routes this meet and the Haddock/Velasquez jockey/trainer combo has won 3 of their last 7 starts.

#3 Sugar Included (15/1) – She’s had some time out since her last start at Parx, which was very poor.  However, she takes a big class drop today and her races at Churchill Downs make her competitive in here.  Trainer Juan Serey is also 24% with a +$3.06 ROI with runners 2nd start off the claim this year.

Double Bombs

Parx

3:34pm ET Race 8: 6 Furlongs. F.S.Alw 39000b

#2 Promised Storm (12/1) – Lightly raced, she has the most potential in this inconsistent group.  She holds the fastest speed figure in this field with her maiden breaker three starts back.  Her last two efforts have been ok, but have been over a good surface.  She’ll get back to a fast track today, shortens a furlong and has a major chance at a big number.

The Conductor’s Veterans Day Plays at Del Mar

Four racehorses with jockeys in colorful silks competing against an American flag background.

Just Kidding, do you think the Conductor would sit out Veteran’s Day racing at Del Mar?  He would not disrespect those who have fought for our freedom and enabled him to play the ponies every day.  His life is easy, and he has them to thank.  Hopefully he can repay them just a little bit by handing out some winners today.  This is a great country, thank you to all that have served. Let’s Ride.

3:30pm ET Race 1: 6 Furlongs. F.OClm 50000

#6 Midnight Miracle (2/1) – The Conductor can’t get by the favorite in here.  His best race was over the Del Mar surface and he’s crossed the finish line 1st in three straight starts.  He has shown versatility winning on the lead and stalking the pace.

4:00pm ET Race 2: 7 Furlongs. F.Desi Arnaz Stakes

This was a five-horse field and two runners scratched.  Three horses for a stakes race? What a joke the Conductor will pass.

4:30pm ET Race 3: 1 Mile. (Turf) Clm 40000

#7 Buckstopper (3/1) – The Conductor thinks we’ll get a little above 3/1 on this gelding after missing the board in his last two starts.  He is the class of the field however and he should get a beautiful setup today.  They are going to fly early and he can sit off the pace and make one run as they turn for home.  He also gets a major turf rider upgrade to Desormeaux.

5:00pm ET Race 4: 5 ½ Furlongs. F.MC 20000

*Gullet Shot of the Day #3 Mi Pajarito (12/1) – She has been steadily progressing and her last start was the fastest in this field on the Conductor’s numbers.  In her 2nd start off the layoff she should take another step forward and can beat this weak field.

Del Mar

5:30pm ET Race 5: 1 Mile. (Turf) Mdn 53k

#8 Cupid’s Claw (3/1) – He ran a bang up race last start, pressing a hot pace, moving early, and just fading late.  Shortening back to a mile will help his cause and he’ll be tough to beat.

*Throat Chop #2 Pitino (8/1) – He struggled down the hill last start, but the hill isn’t for everybody.  His best race was sprinting over this Del Mar turf course and he has shown late pace figures on dirt that suggest he can get the distance.  He will be the Conductor’s price key in the exacta and trifecta.

6:00pm ET Race 6: 1 Mile. Clm 10000

#7 Dukes Up (7/2) – Taking a big drop in class, his last race over this Del Mar surface was by far the best last race in this group.  He is going in the right direction while these others are moving backwards.  The short layoff is not a concern with trainer Steven Miyadi hitting at 19% with a +$1.03 ROI with runners off a three month+ break this year.

6:30pm ET Race 7: 1 Mile. (Turf) OC 80000n1x

#1 Sammys Dream (6/1) – Shipping in from a blowout win at Canterbury Park, none of these runners are proven routing on grass and this race is primed for an upset.  This baby is working like a rocket and Gary Stevens chooses to hop aboard, which tells the Conductor he knows something we don’t.

7:00pm ET Race 8: 6 Furlongs. MC 32000

*Never a Doubt Veteran’s Day Lock #9 Stay in Yo Lane (7/2) – Well bet in each start, the Conductor loves this boy to end today’s card.  His debut 3 starts back was the fastest any of his competitors have run. Moreover, he’s primed to run his best cutting back to a sprint today.  Lock it Up.

Del Mar

Sunday’s Bailout: The Conductor’s Plays at Del Mar

Group of women wearing various stylish hats and dresses at an outdoor event.

The Conductor has a lot of big prices up his sleeve today.  Let’s see if Del Mar can handle the pressure.

Race 1: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) F.Clm 25000

#2 Indypendent Deputy (10/1) – Out classed in her last two starts on dirt, she gets back to her preferred turf surface and her figures make her competitive in here.  She has a strong late kick and gets a major rider upgrade to Geovanni Franco.

#6 Girl Downstairs (8/5) – She’s by far the most likely winner in this group.

Race 2: 1 Mile. F.Mdn 53k

#7 Dancing Belle (4/1) – She’s had plenty of chances to break her maiden, but she has some back class and she should get a perfect setup today.  They are going to fly up front and she can sit nicely behind them.  She’s run her best races at Del Mar and is primed to run her top effort in her 3rd start off the layoff.  The Conductor will key her in the exacta.

Race 3: 1 1/16 Mile. Alw 8000s

#2 Banze No Oesta (3/1) – This Ol’ Boy ran very well last start closing into a slow pace and just ran out of ground.  Trainer Steve Knapp is 19% with a +0.72 ROI this year with runners 2nd off the claim and this gelding should get a perfect stalking trip today.

Race 4: 6½ Furlongs. Clm 40000

*Gullet Shot of the Day #4 Redesign (10/1) – He pressed a hot pace and faded in his last start, but his victory and speed figure two starts back makes him a strong win candidate in here.  He’s working well, should improve in his 2nd start off a layoff and this is a weak group.  The Conductor is praying the bettors don’t respect his Canterbury form.

Del Mar

Race 5: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) MC 62500

#6 Falcone (6/1) – Waiting in traffic and closing into a slow pace for 2nd last start, the Conductor will back up the caboose for anything over 4/1. He’s yet to get a fast pace to close into and that’s exactly what he’ll get today.

#4 Mo Bob (3/1) – This European shipper didn’t get the toughest group to face today.  With top connections the Conductor won’t get beat by him.

Race 6: 5½ Furlongs. MC 20000

*Bomb Squad #1 Fleetwood (15/1) – He showed some talent in his first two career starts and hasn’t even finished races since.  He drops to his lowest career class level today and received the ultimate equipment change.  He’s working well, and the Conductor has seen a snipping pull off bigger upsets.  He’ll be an absolute bomb.

Del Mar

#6 Fast Cotton (3/1) – Dropping back to this level after facing tougher, his race two starts back over this Del Mar surface beats this group plain and simple.

Race 7: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) Alw 50000s

#3 Snazzy Dresser (6/1) – Showing in his last two efforts he prefers the turf; this boy will be on the lead early and this race has no other pace signed on.  With the blinkers off, the Conductor is hoping he can ration his speed and scoot away on the front end.

Race 8: 7 Furlongs. F.S.100K Betty Grable Stakes

*Never a Doubt Sunday Night Scary Preventer Lock #3 Just Grazed Me (5/2) – This race may be the hottest pace you’ll see all meet at 7 furlongs.  With the others gunning for the front, she’ll sit a beautiful trip and swoop by them down the lane.  Swooooooooop.

Del Mar

Race 9: 5 Furlongs. (Turf) F.S.OC 20000n1x

*Esophagus Squeeze #8 Great Ma Neri (12/1) – This race is wide open, and the Conductor is looking for a price.  By far his best two lifetime speed figures have been sprinting on the Del Mar turf and he’s drawn well to the outside. The Quinonez/Lorenzo jockey/trainer combo have been hitting with bombs lately.

Del Mar

Saturday’s Domination at Del Mar: The Conductor’s Plays

Attendees watching a horse racing event from a seated area with horses racing in the background.

The Conductor loves the Del Mar card today, Let’s Ride.

Race 1: 3:30pm ET Race 1: 5 Furlongs. (Turf) Mdn 53k

#4 Seahawk Wave (4/1) – He debuted in the summer at Del Mar and ran a solid 3rd at 62/1.  Last time out down the hill, he set a hot pace and was only beaten 3 lengths.  He should run a career best in his 3rd start off the layoff and cutting back to 5 furlongs.

*Throat Latch Slit #7 Goldie’s Hill (15/1) – Just missing on dirt last start, he has the highest last out speed figure in the field.  He ran a similar figure on the Del Mar turf in the summer and he continues to get disrespected at the windows.  He’s a good bomb to key in the trifecta.

Del Mar

4:00pm ET Race 2: 5½ Furlongs. F.Clm 12500

#1 Bragging Rights (6/1) – He ran 5th last race behind two runners also in this race, but the Conductor thinks he can turn the tables.  One of his best races was over the Del Mar surface and he was trying to close into a slow pace last time.  He gets a rider upgrade to Joe Talamo and he should get a quicker pace to run at today.  This is a lesson in handicapping from the Conductor, take note.

#4 We Will Re Joyce (2/1) – The Conductor is throwing him out.  He’ll be the heavy favorite and he loves to win everywhere except Del Mar.  Play against him.

4:30pm ET Race 3: 1 Mile (Turf) F.Mdn 53K

#10 Apache Princess (4/1) – Primed perfectly for this race, she’s had two sprint races on dirt and now stretches out for the turf.  She’s bred for this and will run a career best today.  The Rajin Cajun will have to work out a trip from the outside, but the Conductor trusts him after answered the bell for him yesterday on the turf.

5:00pm ET Race 4: 6 Furlongs. Clm 16000

#6 Super Touch (6/1) – Throw out his last race on a sloppy track, this gelding is a very consistent runner and should get a perfect setup today.  They are going to fly in front of him and he’ll have every chance to come running win.  The Conductor will key him in the exacta.

5:30pm ET Race 5: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.Mdn 53k

#3 Mercy Mercy (7/2) – She had a trip from hell last start, hopping out of the gate and then being blocked behind horses until the final 1/16th of a mile.  She finished very strongly and galloped out the best.  With a clean trip today, she’ll have every chance.

*Wind Pipe Whack #8 After the Rose (20/1) – This 500k filly was thrust into a stakes race in her 2nd career start and attended the pace before being pulled up.  She’s bred to route in turf and we still have no idea about her true ability.  She’s a bomb to include underneath.

6:00pm ET Race 6: 6½ Furlongs. F.Clm 16000n2L

*Gullet Shot of the Day #6 Majestic Authority (8/1) – She was eased in her last start, but she’s returning to the track quickly, so the Conductor will assume she’s sound.  She won going gate to wire at Del Mar in the summer and that is exactly what the conductor is expecting today.  There is no other pace in this race.

Del Mar

#7 Lucky Val (7/2) – Her last start was by far the best in this field. She faced trouble and was only beaten two lengths by much tougher. She is obviously the most likely winner in this race. However, the Conductor hopes the low % trainer scares some others away.

6:30pm ET Race 7: 1 Mile. (Turf) LetItRideB75K

#6 Fight On (6/1) – Switching to turf last start, he showed a thunderous late kick and closed 5 lengths in the stretch to win.  He should get an even better setup today with more pace to run at. The Conductor will bet this is what he has wanted to do all along.

#3 Choo Choo (5/1) – If the Conductor doesn’t use a horse named Choo Choo and he wins, then he will hop out of the train and lay in front of it.

Del Mar

7:00pm ET Race 8: 1 Mile. OC 62500b

*Saturday’s Stone Cold Never a Doubt 25 to Life Locked Up Lock of the Day #5 Shivermetimbers (9/5) – A winner of 2/3 starts at Del Mar, this colt is steadily progressing. His last race stands above this field.  Additionally, he ran a game 2nd with the rider losing the whip last time. Shortening back to a mile today makes him a cinch.

Del Mar

7:30pm ET Race 9: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.Mdn 53k

#6 Bizwhacks (4/1) – She’s run very solid races on both dirt and turf to start her career.  Her last start on turf was her first-time routing and she finished a solid 3rd against tougher competition.  With a natural step forward today, she’s the one to beat.

Friday’s Positive Recap at Del Mar

Del Mar time, Let’s Ride.

*#4 Gullet Shot of the Day #4 Excellent Sunset – 1st at 4/1, DQ’d to 2nd

This race made the Conductor puke on himself and almost choke to death on his own vomit.  He was rolling at Del Mar picking winners left and right, alive to some big scores, wins and gets nothing.

She cuts the #9 off a little bit but #Excellent Sunset was clear at the time. It was a great sell job by the jockey, but the #9 was never going to win.  Tough to promote the sport when this shit happens.  If Baffert trained the #4 they would have left her up.  Joke.

Race 8: 5 ½ Furlongs. F.MC 32000

#10 Orca – 8th at 9/1

All in all, a solid start to the meet with two 2/1 winners and a 5/1 lock of the day victory for the Conductor’s top picks.  Let’s have a hell of a Saturday.

Friday’s Force-Fed Winners: Opening Day Plays at Del Mar

A large crowd gathered at a horse racing event with spectators enjoying the atmosphere and horses in the foreground.

The Conductor gets back to Del Mar today and that’s enough to get him fired up for the weekend.  76 and sunny every day, full fields and juicy prices.  It will be a pleasure to ride the train this meet, I thank my lucky stars every day the Conductor chose me as his scribe.  Let’s Eat, Let’s Ride.

3:30pm ET Race 1: 1 Mile. Clm 20000

#2 Plum Dandy (4/1) – Dropping in class, he set a wicked pace and was only beaten 2 lengths.  He is 3/4 at the mile distance and he’ll appreciate the cutback.

#6 Twirling Tiger (5/1) – Impressive win last time sprinting, he earned the highest last out speed figure in the group.  He loves to run 2nd, he’s a solid key in the vertical wagers.

4:00pm ET Race 2: 7 Furlongs. F.MC 20000

#3 Trappiza (4/1) – The #1 Eskenforadrink (9/5) is the horse to beat, but Trappiza is an overlay at 4/1.  Her last race was the fastest of this group and she has some back class.  The Conductor will key her in 1st and 2nd.

4:30pm ET Race 3: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.S. 20000n1x

#7 X S Gold (5/1) – Throw out his last race off a layoff on dirt, he has the figures to beat this group on grass and his best races have been on the Del Mar turf.  He also gets the Rajin Cajun back in the saddle.

#4 Tenthousandreasons (12/1) – His last start on dirt would beat this field.  Trainer Craig Dollase is 4/12 with a +$8.57 ROI trying runners on turf for the first time this year and this race is wide open.  At the price he’ll be, he’s worth an include.

5:00pm ET Race 4: 6 Furlongs. MC 100000

*Never a Doubt Bottle Service Friday Night Lock #2 Manhattan Up (3/1) – He broke inwards in his debut and ran a solid 3rd above par for this level.  He’s posting bullet works and will be very tough to beat now that he has some experience.

Del Mar

5:30pm ET Race 5: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.Alw 50000s

#2 Foxtail (9/2) – She moved way too early into a hot pace last start and if she runs her race two starts back over this same turf course, she’ll be very tough to beat.  9/2 would make the Conductor too happy for words.

#6 Take a Leap (7/2) – Her maiden breaker last start was very strong and she’s posting monster works leading into today.  She has the most potential in this group and the Conductor will personally grantee only these two horses can win.

6:00pm ET Race 6: 5 ½ Furlongs. S.Mdn 53k

#6 Clyde’s Pride (9/2) – This race is wide open, but he’s the Conductor’s top pick.  He’s set scorching paces on the turf in his first three starts and held on for 2nds.  The cutback to a sprint should suit him perfectly and Hollendorfer is 21% with a +$0.30 ROI switching runners from dirt to turf this year.

6:30pm ET Race 7: 1 Mile. (Turf) F. Kathryn Crosby Stakes 75k

*#4 Gullet Shot of the Day #4 Excellent Sunset (8/1) – The Conductor will bet more money than god if he gets 8/1 on this filly.  She’s run back to back quality races at Keeneland and Saratoga, pressing hot paces and finishing strongly.  The turf runners on the East Coast are significantly better than the competition these other California runners have been facing.

Del Mar

#7 Way to Versailles (7/2) – Exiting an extremely solid 3rd pressing a pace that was hotter than hot, she’s won a Grade 2 race and is the class of the field.  She’s the only other runner the Conductor will use on top.

7:00pm ET Race 8: 5 ½ Furlongs. F.MC 32000

#10 Orca (5/1) – Drawn well to the outside, she didn’t show much in her debut, but was bet heavily against much tougher.  The market usually knows when one can run, she’ll take the Conductor’s money today at Del Mar.
