This where the Conductor is at heading into Saratoga’s final Saturday. Be good to him pony gods, Let’s Ride.
Race 1: 1 1/16 Mile. (Inner Turf) Mdn 90k
#1 Structor (2/1) – 850k Chad Brown 1st timer. It’s Scructor for the Conductor in the first.
Race 2: 5 ½ Furlongs. (Turf) Clm 40000n2L
#2 No Regrets (7/2) – The Conductor regrets nothing about his decision to live his life on the rails.
Race 3: 6 Furlongs. F.G2 Prioress Stakes
#5 Royal Charlotte (4/1) – Dropping out of a loaded G1 Test stakes where she was heavily bet, The Conductor likes that Chad brings her back quickly. She’s drawn nicely to the outside and the Conductor thinks the odds on favorite #3 Break Even (1/2) is vulnerable.
Race 4: 5½ Furlongs. (Turf) OC 62500n2x
#4 Fig Jelly (5/2) – She should get the lone lead in this turf sprint and that’s all the Conductor needs to see.
Race 5: 7 Furlongs. Mdn 90k
#8 Mud Pie (10/1) – This colt debuts for a small barn that has a winner from only two starters this meet. He’s posting solid works, his sire is 16% with 1st timers and his dam has produced a stakes winner. The Conductor has that feeling in his left knee that he’s going to pop.
Race 6: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) G3 Saranac Stakes
#2 Good Governance (2/1) – Chad Brown
Race 7: 7 Furlongs. Mdn 90k
#4 Extreme Force (8/1) – She hasn’t broken well in her 1st two career starts but showed talent in her debut, running 3rd in a race that has come back live. With a clean break today, she’ll have every chance at a nice number.
Race 8: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) Mdn 90k
#1 Get Set (5/1) – Exiting two decent sprint efforts on dirt, he stretches out and tries turf for the 1st time. Trainer Steve Klesaris is 17% with a +$2.75 ROI moving horses to the lawn for the 1st time this year.
Race 9: 7 Furlongs. F.Alw 92000n1x
#3 Arrifana (7/2) – This filly looked like the goods in her debut and is working like a monster entering today.
Race 10: 1 1/8 Mile. (Turf) G2 Glens Falls Stakes
#2 Fools Gold (5/2) – One of the Chad Brown runners will win this race, you passengers figure out which one.
Race 11: 1 1/8 Mile. G1 Woodward Stakes
*Gullet Shot of the Day #4 Mongolian Groom (15/1) – This gelding is in good form and has run two bang up races in a row. He was only beaten a length by Catalina Cruiser two back and he hung on for 3rd after chasing a lone front-runner around the track in the Pacific Classic last time out. He looks to get a great trip sitting in the first flight of runners behind a moderate pace up front today and there aren’t any superstars in this field. The Conductor is going to key him in the exacta and trifecta and use mainly the three runners exiting the Whitney around him (#3 Vino Rosso (7/2), #5 Preservationist (7/2) and #7 Yoshida (5/2).
Race 12: 6 Furlongs. Mdn 90k
#4 Tolerant (4/1) – The Chad Brown and Pletcher trainees are the ones to beat, but this 1st timer catches the Conductor’s eye. He posted a bullet 46 flat work two back and his sire is winning at a 16% clip with runners in their debut. This jockey/trainer combo is also red hot.
The Utes kicked the Conductor right in the teeth to start the 2019 college football season, typical. That game was absolute torcher to watch from a BYU backer’s perspective. It was 9-6 Utah at halftime and BYU had controlled the game. They moved it into the RedZone twice and settled for field goals and Utah’s TD came on a panic pick 6. BYU should have been up 14-3 at half and the Conductor knew he was in trouble when they didn’t take advantage of their opportunities early.
In the 2nd half Utah ran it right down the Cougars’ gullets, but we still had a chance to cover if BYU didn’t hand Utah two TD’s off unforced turnovers. The Conductor likes both teams moving forward, but BYU did him no favors last night.
Wake Forest -4 vs Utah State
The Conductor’s chase game tonight is down in Winston Salem. The Demon Deacons have improved mightily the last few years under head coach Dave Clawson and are getting much better recruits. Utah State is coming in off a great 10-2 season, but their head coach left and most of their returning production on offense is gone. The smaller schools can’t reload like the big boys. Both teams will put up points in this one, but Wake will ware them out late with their wicked tempo at home under the lights. The Conductor sees the Deacons winning by at last a touchdown.
……BYU did not go well for the Conductor. American Power at 7/2 in Race 8 was the Conductor’s best opinion yesterday, but we need more big prices running in. Only 4 days left in the meet, Let’s Ride.
Race 1: 7 Furlongs. Mdn 78k
#7 Financialstability (2/1) – The Conductor likes his work tap b for Chad and he has what the Conductor will never have.
Race 2: 1 1/8 Mile. Clm 12500
#8 Kahramani (9/2) – He stumbled at the start and was fanned wide last start. He’ll improve 2nd off the layoff and will be a fair price.
Race 3: 5½ Furlongs. (Turf) S.MC 40000
#6 Exchange Fever (6/1) – This colt showed ability in his debut last summer at Saratoga, pressing a hot pace and only beaten 1 ¾ lengths vs tougher. Coming in fresh off a long layoff, this is a weak group and he has the most upside.
Race 4: 6 Furlongs. OC 100000b
#1 Wonderful Light (2/1) – The other contenders are wildcards in here, coming in off long layoffs. This horse is making his 3rd start of the year and is in good form, the Conductor trusts him.
Race 5: 1 Mile. (Inner Turf) F.Alw 40000s
*Gullet Shot of the Day #3 Bramble Queen (8/1) – 2nd off the layoff, she’s a mile specialist and looks to get a perfect trip today with a hot pace in front to run at.
Race 6: 5½ Furlongs. (Turf) S.Mdn 78k
#3 Shandian (6/1) – This colt pressed a scorching pace and still hung on for 3rd in his first try on turf last start. 6/1 would be a mouthwatering price.
Race 7: 5 ½ Furlongs. F.Mdn 90k
#3 Leaveuwithasmile (4/1) – She showed good early speed in her debut and hung on for 3rd behind an impressive runner. She’ll be in a good spot early and should improve with experience.
Race 8: 1 Mile. (Inner Turf) F.S.Alw 80000n1x
#4 Noble Jewel (8/1) – Stretching out to a route for the 1st time last start, she made a move on the turn and then flattened out. She broke her maiden impressively in her debut, is lightly raced, and will appreciate the shorter distance today.
Race 9: 1 1/8 Mile. Clm 50000
#1 Tour De Force (8/5) – The Conductor doesn’t have anything clever here.
Race 10: 5 ½ Furlongs. (Turf) Lucky Coin Stakes 100k
*Never a Doubt Friday Night Stew Lock of the Day #3 Disco Partner (8/5) – After scratches, he’ll be tough to beat.
Race 11: 1 Mile. (Inner Turf) F.S.Alw 80000n1x
#8 Star of the East (9/2) – She had a troubled trip last start and the Conductor sees her getting a perfect one today stalking a hot pace.
Football season is back and that is exactly what the Conductor needs. Saratoga has dragged him through the streets the past month, but now he can diversify his portfolio and start firing away on some good ol’ fashion American Football. The Florida vs Miami game last week may have been the grossest thing the Conductor has ever watched, but it’s nice that football is back.
BYU +6.5 vs Utah
Tonight’s slate has few good match-ups and the Conductor is taking the train to Utah for the Holy War.
This is going to be a hell of a game. Utah is loaded entering the season with most of a 9-5 team back and a stellar defense. They’ve been getting hyped up all off season with all the passengers in the media saying how good they’re going to be. They are a good team yes, but this is week one and they are playing their bitter rival.
They Conductor liked what he saw out of BYU QB Zach Wilson to end last season and the Cougars are returning most of their production from last year as well. BYU is always well coached on both sides of the ball and the Conductor loves taking the Mormon’s as underdogs. This is a rivalry game and these two teams despise each other.
*Key to the Game – The Mormon factor: What won’t be talked about in the media is the Mormon factor. 99% of the kids on Utah were out drinking stew all summer, that’s what college kids do. The Mormons on the other hand don’t drink stew. Should that be an NCAA violation? Probably, but the Conductor knows from experience how much damage stew can do to the body. In a tight game, even the slightest advantage can put a team over the edge, and the Cougars have it in this one.
Please get the Conductor to Labor Day Weekend, Let’s Ride.
Race 1: 6 Furlongs. F.S.Mdn 78k
#1 Tequila Fog (6/1) – Her dam has produced 3 winners from 4 starters, including a stakes winner. The Conductor likes her work tab and trainer Dermot Magner is 25% with a +$1.49 ROI this year at the maiden special weight level.
Race 2: 1 1/8 Mile. (Inner Turf) S.OC 40000n2x
#6 Cross Border (8/5) – Winner of two in a row, he loves Saratoga and the distance. His price may float up with two Chad Brown runners in the field as well.
Race 3: 6½ Furlongs. F.Clm 20000n3L
*Atom Bomb Shot of the Day #4 Parlapiano (20/1) – She made a wide move on the turn last start after getting vanned off in her start prior. 3rd off the layoff today, the Conductor sees her running her A race, which fits against this tepid group. The Conductor will key her in the exacta and trifecta.
Race 4: 5½ Furlongs. (Turf) Alw 50000s
#4 He Iz Gone (12/1) – This gelding folded in his 1st time routing last start. He cuts back to sprinting today, where he won 3 straight prior and will step forward in his 2nd start for the Clement barn.
Race 5: 7 Furlongs. Clm 16000n2L
#2 Bronxville (5/1) – He mad an early move into a hot pace vs tougher last start. 2nd off the layoff he will improve and the Conductor thinks he has every chance to beat the heavy favorite #1 Business Cycle (1/1) at a much better price.
Race 6: 5 ½ Furlongs. (Turf) S.Mdn 78k
#8 Corey Scores (4/1) – Chad not being the favorite in a turf sprint paid nicely yesterday.
Race 7: 6 Furlongs. F.S.Mdn 78k
*Gullet Shot of the Day #8 Saratoga Beauty (9/2) – He was favored in his debut and ran ok after breaking slowly. Paco returns to Saratoga to ride him and trainer Patrick McBurney is 32% with a +$0.11 ROI with 2nd time starters this year.
Race 8: 6 Furlongs. OClm 50000
#3 American Power (5/1) – Winner of two in a row, this colt looks to get a great setup with a hot pace to run at.
Race 9: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) F.P. G. Johnson Stakes 100k
#3 Ginseng (8/1) – Castellano hops aboard the Indiana shipper for Brad Cox. The Conductor really liked her debut win, showing a nice turn of foot on the turn.
We came up short today at Saratoga with the spot play, but the Conductor’s atom bomb shot ran 3rd in race 5, so hopefully a few of you passengers hit a nice trifecta.
His atom bomb shot got scratched at Del Mar, but he’s still going to key his gullet shot. He doesn’t want another peanut butter sandwich tonight, he wants the finest cut of meat dripping off the bone. Let’s Ride
Fast and firm for now at Saratoga. The rain forecast has been pushed back until late afternoon, so lets most of the card shouldn’t be heavily affected. Let us pray, only 6 more days left in both meet, Let’s Ride.
#1 Juggles (5/2) – 2nd off the layoff, dropping in class and stretching out to a route, this colt has an early pace advantage over this field. Gate to wire.
Race 2: 1 Mile. F.Alw 12500s
#5 Road Test (3/1) – 1st off the claim and dropping in class, this mare is in good form her figures stand above this group’s.
Race 3: 1 1/8 Mile. (Turf) S.OC 40000n2x
#5 Red King (7/2) – He just missed at this level last start and his 3rd two starts back vs Grade 3 company makes him the one to beat in the Conductor’s eyes. 7/2 would be a great price on him.
Race 4: 5 ½ Furlongs. MC 50000
#10 Arouse and Go (6/1) – She was well bet in her debut and didn’t do much running. The Conductor will give her another chance now with experience, a weight break, and a better price.
Race 5: 5 Furlongs. (Turf) F.Alw 50000s
*Gullet Shot of the Day #3 Dunbow Road (8/1) – She was dominant in her maiden breaker last start and posted a bullet last work. Trainer Tim Yakteem is 16% with a +$0.32 ROI moving runners to grass for the 1st time this year.
Race 6: 1 Mile. Mdn 61k
*Atom Bomb Shot of the Day #6 Include The Tax (20/1) – 2nd off the layoff, this colt gets a weight break and ran a decent 4th last time. He stretches out for the 1st time today, which is trainer Michael McCarthy’s specialty. He’s 25% with a +$4.14 ROI this year with 1st time routers.
The final week at Saratoga is upon us. It all comes down to this. The Conductor is in a hole deeper than the grand canyon……but it only takes one pony. Let’s Ride.
Race 1: Hurdle Race – Pass
Race 2: 6 Furlongs. F.OC 25000s
#5 Le Weekend (3/1) – This mare is a hark knocker and her figures fit right in with the favorites in here. Shipping in Colonial, the Conductor is expecting her to be an overlay.
Race 3: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) F.S.OC 40000n2x
#1 Dynamite Kitten (4/1) – She showed a good late lick last time, closing into a slow pace. She gets back to her best distance today.
Race 4: 6 Furlongs. F.Mdn 90k
#3 Doll Collercion (4/1) – She stumbled at the break last time and she was steadily progressing until then. The Conductor likes that Johnny V hops aboard.
Race 5: 1 Mile. (Inner Turf) F.Clm 40000
*Atom Bomb Shot of the Day #5 Alvernia (30/1) – This filly didn’t a run a step in the slop last time, but her win two back on dirt was competitive for this level. She’s stretching out and trying the grass for the first time and her breeding has some turf influences. She’ll be the biggest price on the board and the Conductor will key her underneath in the trifecta like the sicko he is.
Race 6: 6 Furlongs. S.Mdn 78k
#4 Lorenzen (5/1) – This colt is working well for Casse and his dam has produced 7 winners from 9 starter. RIP to the legend Hefty Lefty who passed away this year.
