Gulfstream Park: Fountain of Youth Stakes Day Key Horses

Well, the Conductor is in a hole entering a great Fountain of Youth Stakes Day. No excuses, just pick up a shovel and get back to work. Let’s Ride.

Race 11: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.Honey Fox G3 Honey Fox Stakes

#8 Jakarta (15/1) – Stretching out off a short break, she’s the lone speed in a race devoid of any pace. She’s won at a mile on dirt and Mott is one of the best stretching them out. She The Conductor can see her stealing it on the front end, or at least holding on in the trifecta.

Race 12: 1 Mile. F.G2 Davona Dale Stakes

#5 Millefeuille (5/1) – #3 Vequist (7/5) is the clear one to beat, but her trainer is only 2/47 off a 90+ day layoff this year. This filly is the only one close to her on numbers and the Conductor likes her shortening back to a mile.

Race 13: 1 3/16 Mile. (Turf) F.G3 The Very One Stakes

*Gullet Shot of the Day #9 War Like Goddess (10/1) – This filly has run monster late pace figures in her first two career starts and gets the acid test today. There aren’t any standouts in this field and the Conductor thinks she has loads of talent.

Race 14: 1 1/16 Mile. G2 Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth Stakes

#1 Drain the Clock (5/1) – The Conductor liked the way he rated last time and won with ease. Stretching out for the first time, if he can get the distance, he’ll have every chance.

#5 Jirafales (15/1) – Re-rallying after being steadied hard on the turn last time, he galloped out well passed Drain the Clock. He will like every inch of ground.

Oaklawn Park: Key Horses for Thursday, February 25

Oaklawn Park Race 5: 1 Mile. Clm 7500

#9 Calculated Risker (20/1) – #7 Hardly a Secret (5/2) looks like a standout in here, but the Conductor can see this gelding lighting up the tri. Dropping in class and stretching out to a route, his dirt route numbers fit with this group. He should be up close to the lead in a race without much early pace as well.

Race 6: 6 Furlongs. MC 20000

#5 Jack Luvs Nova (6/1) – He’s working well off the layoff and putting the blinkers back on today. His efforts at Churchill this fall give him every chance in here.

Race 7: 6 Furlongs. Clm 25000n3L

*Gullet Shot of the Day #6 News Flash (10/1) – Dropping in class 1^st off the claim for a better barn, he’s working well and has an early pace edge over this field. He should be able to clear the field early and will be very dangerous at a big number.

Oaklawn Park Race 8: 6 Furlongs. Alw 88000n1x

*Double Barreled Buckshot #5 Kadri (10/1) – He showed talent in early in his career and ran better than it looks last time with a slow break and a wide trip. 2^nd off the layoff today he looks like he’s sitting on a top effort.

#7 One for Richie (15/1) – He trounced weaker last time and will be stepping up in class today. His last race was by far the fastest last race in the field and anything near this morning line would be a must whack.

Laurel Park: Key Horses for Saturday, February 20

Solid Friday at Gulfstream to stop the bleeding this week. The Conductor is going to switch it up and head to Maryland this Saturday for some stakes racing. 12% pick 5s at Laurel Park, remember that. Let’s Ride.

Race 6: 7 Furlongs. F.Wide Country Stakes

#3 Fraudulent Charge (6/1) – This filly was only beaten by a nose by the favorite in here #5 Street Lute (2/1) closing behind a moderate pace last time. She’s working well entering today and trainer Lacey Gaudet is 20% with a +$0.81 ROI with horses coming back from 46-90 days off this year.

Race 7: 7 Furlongs. F.G3 Runhappy Barbara Fritchie Stakes

*Gullet Shot of the Day #4 Estilo Talentoso (10/1) – 2^nd off the layoff today, she ran well last time at Laurel Park pressing a hot pace routing. Cutting back to a sprint today she looks to get nice trip with a hot pace to stalk.

Race 8: 7 Furlongs. G3 General George Stakes

#1 Laki (9/2) – This old man is a warrior loves to win. He clipped heels last time but posted a bullet work entering today. He has the early pace to work out a good trip from the rail and is a Grade 3 winner.

Race 9: 6 Furlongs. Mdn 40k

#3 Flat Cat (4/1) – He pressed a hot pace in his debut before fading and he shouldn’t see that quick of a pace today. With a solid work and getting Lasix for the first time, the Conductor sees him taking a step forward.

Santa Anita Park: Key Horses for Sunday, February 14

Race 6: 5½ Furlongs. F.MC 20000

#3 Sugar Moon (30/1) – Call the Conductor looney tunes, but this bomb intrigues him. 1^st off the claim for Val Brinkerhoff, this filly moves into a barn that can win for the first time in her career. Adding blinkers and Lasix 2^nd off the layoff, she has early speed which makes her dangerous in a wide-open race. The Conductor is strongly against the favorite in here #8 Wicks and Chappies (6/5) after failing to get it done with a perfect trip at Santa Anita last time.

Race 7: 6 Furlongs. (Turf) F.G3 Sweet Life Stakes

#9 Majestic Steps (7/2) – She was very impressive breaking her maiden last time while being rank. Making her 2^nd start in North America today, she should step forward.

Race 9: 1 1/8 Mile. (Turf) S.Mdn 61k

*Gullet Shot of the Day #3 Big Frank Da Tank (15/1) – He ran a decent 3^rd last time at Santa Anita and looks like one that will improve with added distance. It is interesting that Prat rode him last time for such a small barn and he’s working well entering today. C’mon Tank! Skip!

Fair Grounds: Risen Star Stakes Day Key Horses

One shorty yesterday and another 24/1 shot running 2nd in the finale at Gulfstream. Big Risen Star Stakes Day of racing ahead of us and it looks like the late pick 5 at Fair Grounds will stay on the turf. Let’s Ride.

Race 9: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) F.Albert M. Stall Memorial Stakes

#3 Pass the Plate (10/1) – This filly is in good form, running well on and off the turf in her last 3 starts. She’s run very strong late pace figures and hasn’t been aided by fast paces. She proved she can handle good turf last time as well.

Race 10: 1 1/16 Mile. G3 Mineshaft Stakes

#6 Sonneman (8/1) – The Conductor is against #4 Maxfield (4/5) in this spot. He’s had too much trouble staying on the racetrack. Sonneman had a tough trip last time being wide on the turns and trying to close into a slow pace. He never stopped trying and should improve off that effort.

Race 11: 1 1/8 Mile. (Turf) G3 Fair Grounds Stakes

#6 Logical Myth (9/2) – This gelding continues progress in the Joe Sharp barn and is a ridiculous 5/6 at Fair Grounds. He’s proven over good turf and is working well. #4 Danceteria (6/1) also has a big chance in here as the class of the field.

Race 12: 1 1/16 Mile. F.G2 Rachel Alexandra Stakes

#8 Travel Column (2/1) – This filly looks like a good one. Single.

Race 13: 1 1/8 Mile. G2 Risen Star Stakes

*Gullet Shot of the Day #10 Santa Cruiser (15/1) – He had a brutal trip last time. He was completely shut off at the break and then tried to close into a slow pace. The Conductor liked his effort after the beginning and ran fast to break his maiden two back. He can surprise at a big number.

Gulfstream Park: Late Pick 4 Key Horses for Friday, February 12

Aesthetically looked like he was going to steal the finale at Gulfstream Thursday at 16/1, but just faded late. Hopefully a few passengers cashed the exacta or tri. Let’s get a few of these bombs across the wire first Friday. Skip.

Race 7: 1 Mile. (Turf) OC 75000n1x

#7 Hot Blooded (12/1) – If this colt is anything close to his morning line, the Conductor will throttle it to the Gulfstream windows. His lone turf effort was by far his best, beating open stakes company. Working well for a strong barn off the layoff and getting Lasix for the first time, he has major upside.

Race 8: 1 Mile. S.OC 12500n1x

#6 Our Fantazy (9/5) – Drawn well to the outside, she’s faster than the favorite and the Ductor sees her getting the job done.

Race 9: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.OC 62500b

*Gullet Shot of the Day #8 Sun Summers (9/2) – She’s 3 for her last 5 and hasn’t missed the board in those starts, all coming at different tracks. She was miles best in her last start, stuck behind horses down the stretch and galloping out well past the others. The Conductor is singling her.

Race 10: 1 Mile. MC 35000

#3 Weight of Glory (15/1) – He didn’t run a step last time at Gulfstream. Something clearly went wrong, but he returns to the races quickly. Taking the blinkers back off, he has early speed in a race without much pace. Trainer Guadalupe Preciado is also 6/14 with a +$4.61 ROI this year 2^nd off the claim.

Gulfstream Park: Late Pick 4 Key Horses for Thursday, February 11

A few better trips yesterday could have made it a better day. However, we don’t want excuses, we want winners! With Oaklawn’s weekend being canceled, the train will be stationed at Gulfstream and Santa Anita thru Sunday. Skip.

Race 7: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.OClm 35000

*Gullet Shot of the Day #2 Appointed (15/1) – She won easily on debut and also was well bet that day for a 4% barn. She’s moved into a better barn and has every chance in this wide-open affair.

Race 8: 6 Furlongs. OClm 50000

#2 Paladio (5/1) – The Saffie runners look tough in here, but this colt intrigues the Conductor and his price will likely float up. He found his form on the class drop last time at Gulfstream and is now bumping back up vs tougher. He has the figures to win at this level and has already beaten the morning line favorite too.

Race 9: 1½ Mile. (Turf) OC 35000n1x

#6 Focus Group (5/1) – This old man is dropping out of stakes company for the first time in years. Putting the blinkers back on today, the Conductor sees him finding his way back to the winners circle.

Race 10: 1 Mile. (Turf) MC 25000

#6 Aesthetically (12/1) – He showed something sprinting in his debut at Gulfstream, making up ground on the turn. Additionally, stretching out for the first time, he has upside in another wide open affair.

No dice on the Oaklawn #Gullet shot yesterday. Dang slippery neck, but more opportunities today, Let’s Ride.

Oaklawn Race 5: 6 Furlongs. Clm 40000n2L

#5 War Detonator (4/1) – A first time gelding after being moved into an improved barn, his form this fall gives him every chance in here and he should step forward. He looks to get a favorable trip on or near a moderate pace.

Race 6: 6 Furlongs. MC 30000

#6 Appraisal (10/1) – Dropping in class off the layoff and cutting back to a sprint, he’s working faster than Lukas runners typically do. He gets Lasix for the first time today and his race two back was very strong vs tougher.

Race 7: 6 Furlongs. S.Alw 84000n1x

#9 Captain Don (7/2) – He’s coming in off a long layoff, but is working well for a barn that brings them back ready. His form at Oaklawn on a fast track is the best of the bunch.

Race 8: 6 Furlongs. F.Alw 84000n1x

#5 Ocean Breeze (5/2) – Cutting back to a sprint, this filly is a standout in here. She’s failed as the favorite in her last three starts, but she hasn’t run poor races. The Conductor sees her being an overlay in the 3/1 range with the bettors being sick of her.

Oaklawn Race 9: 6 Furlongs. Clm 10000n2L

*Gullet Shot of the Day #1 Critic (8/1) – 2^nd off the claim for a stronger barn and also switching back from synthetic to dirt, his dirt for is as good as any in here. This race has no early pace and the Conductor is hoping he’s sent from the rail.
