Keeneland: Key Horses for Friday, October 8

Horses racing at Keeneland during the spring meet with jockeys in colorful silks.

The Ductor can smell that fresh Keeneland lawn. Skip.

Keeneland Race 2: 1 Mile. (Turf) Mdn 84k

#5 Gingrich (9/2) – This colt made an early, wide move into a quick pace last time and predictably flattened out late. He has the best foundation of the group and Ductor sees him in the winner’s circle.

Race 6: 6 Furlongs. F.Mdn 84k

#8 Fannie and Freddie (6/1) – She made a nice move in her debut against a tough group at Saratoga before tiring late. She’s working well entering today and a natural step forward gives her every chance.

Race 7: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) Alw 90000n3x

#6 Beacon Hill (9/2) – This gelding continues to improve and has shown talent this year. He’s the one to beat in the Ductor’s opinion, hopefully that morning line holds.

*Keeneland Throat Kick #11 Americanus (15/1) – He has upside stretching out for the first time after a game win trying turf last time. He’ll go right to the front and could surprise them at a big number.

Race 8: 6 Furlongs. G2 Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix Stakes

#5 Aloha West (3/1) – His last race was good enough to win here and he looks to get a nce trip stalking dueling frontrunners.

Race 9: 1 1/16 F. G1 Darley Alcibiades Stakes

#8 Distinctlypossible (8/1) – She just missed sprinting in her debut and is bred to improve stretching out. She’ll get a nice trip sitting behind sitting behind a quick pace.

Race 6: 1 Mile. F.OC 75000n2L

*Force Feed Friday Play of the Day #7 Lady Lilly (9/2) – Dropping out of G1 stakes company, she was up close to a very hot pace and still ran well. Additionally, she’s bred to improve stretching out and anything above 7/2 would be very tasty.

Keeneland

Race 7: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) F.Alw 71000n1x

#3 Sursum Corda (5/1) – This filly was too far back behind a tepid pace going longer last time out. Her maiden breaker two back was very impressive, and she has the best late pace figures in the field. The Conductor likes the shorter distance for her as well.

Race 8: 6 Furlongs. G2 Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix Stakes

#6 Echo Town (8/1) – Cutting back to his preferred sprint distance, this colt looks to get a perfect trip sitting just behind a contested pace.

#12 Midnight Sands (12/1) – 2nd off the layoff and making his 2nd start at Keeneland, this boy is battle tested and loves to win. He was heavily bet last time and is also posting bullet works coming into today. Rosario taking the mount for a trainer he never rides for certainly caught the Conductor’s eye as well.

Race 9: 1 1/16 Mile. F.G1 Darley Alcibiades Stakes

#1 Thoughtfully (3/1) – 950k at auction, this girl has romped in her first two starts. She’s also bred to get better stretching out and the Conductor likes her consistent work tab.

Opening day at Keeneland, the most beautiful place the Conductor’s eyes have ever seen. Belmont picks will be up before post time as well. Let’s Ride.

Race 1: 6 Furlongs. OC 10000

#5 Got My Mo (5/1) – Mo Money, less problems.

Race 2: 7 Furlongs. Alw 77000n1y

#1 Knicks Go (4/1) – This colt is finally getting the cutback in distance and class relief he needs.

Race 3: 1 1/16 Mile. Clm 30000n3L

#8 Lngtermrelationship (6/1) – Seems like a bad decision.

Race 4: 1½ Mile. (Turf) Alw 75000n2x

#5 Stella d’Oro (2/1) – She had no chance last time with the slowest of paces in front of her. She should handle this group.

Race 5: 6 Furlongs. Mdn 71k

#3 Boss Onthe Horizon (8/1) – You always need to know where your boss when you have your paycheck on the race right before a meeting.

Race 6: 7 Furlongs. F.OC 75000n2L

#2 Fifthatnarraganset (8/1) – The Conductor liked both of her races at Arlington Park and she’s working well entering today.

Race 7: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.Mdn 71k

#2 Urban Fairytale (8/1) – 2nd off the layoff, the Conductor sees this filly taking a big step forward stretching out to a route for the first time.

Race 8: 6 Furlongs. G2 Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix Stakes

*Gullet Shot of the Day #1 American Pastime (12/1) – This gelding has had trouble staying on the track but has always possessed major ability. His last race shows he’s trending in the right direction and the Conductor sees him running to his potential today. He’ll key him in the exacta and trifecta.

Race 9: 1 1/16 Mile. F. G1 Darley Alcibiades Stakes

#7 Perfect Alibi (5/2) – She hasn’t done anything wrong in her young career and looks to get a perfect setup in this one at Keeneland, staking a hot pace.

Race 10: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.Mdn 71k

#10 Across (4/1) – She ran a good 2nd in her debut, closing into a slow pace. With natural progression she’ll be tough to beat.
