Alright passengers, it’s finally Belmont Stakes weekend up at Saratoga. The forecast looks better than expected and the Conductor is licking his chops as long as the races stay on the turf. Today isn’t the greatest betting card, but Friday and Saturday are fresh meat. The Conductor does like a bomb in the Gold Cup. Let’s Ride.

Race 5: 5½ Furlongs. (Turf) F.S.Mdn 85k

#8 Beautiful Thief ( 12/1) – This is a wide open maiden race with a pretty weak field in the Conductor’s opinion. This 1st time starter has a solid work tab and debuts for trainer Peter Gulyas, who is 0/4 this year. However, Peter’s last 1st timer on turf scored at 17/1. Whenever Castellano hops aboard for a small barn, the Conductor takes a closer look. His jockey agent seems to know when a small outfit has one ready to fire on debut.

Race 10: 2 Miles. (Inner Turf) G2 Belmont Gold Cup Stakes

*Gullet Shot of the Day #6 Champagne Juan (15/1) – 2 miles is a unique distance in America and last years winner, #12 Siskany will certainly be a heavy favorite. Although he is a likely winner, he’ll be a major overlay. The Conductor will take a swing with #6 Champagne Juan, a developing 4-year-old improving with each start. He showed real ability in his win in an allowance race at Keeneland last time. He got a good ground saving trip, but when he went to make his move at the top of the stretch, the hole closed and he had to check. Champagne Juan was able to gather himself and still re-rally to win comfortably. That in not an easy thing to do going 1 1/2 mile and is a good sign that he’ll be able to handle this marathon distance at Saratoga. At 15/1 he can fill up the caboose with ample coal to do some serious damage this weekend.

Belmont Park: Key Horses for Friday, June 4

A group of racehorses competing on a grassy track at Belmont Park during a horse race.

The Ductor got a little over zealous with his bombs Thursday, but he’ll never apologize for going for the gullet. The weather makes Belmont Park’s card iffy, but the stakes should stay on the turf. Let’s Ride.

Belmont Park Race 7: 6½ Furlongs. G2 True North Stakes

*Gullet Shot of the Day #7 Phat Man (6/1)#1 Firenze Fire (2/1) would be the one to beat on a fast Belmont track, but he doesn’t like a likely muddy surface. The Conductor really likes this gelding off a tough trip last time stuck on the inside. His race two back beats this group and the Conductor likes the rider switch to Rosario. #5 Looking at Bikinis (7/2) will be the lone backup the Ductor uses.

Belmont Park

Race 8: 7 Furlongs. F.G3 Bed o’ Roses Stakes

#8 Estilo Talentoso (9/2) – This filly has run well behind Kimari and Gamine in her last two starts. There aren’t any monsters in this field and she draws well to the outside. The Conductor doesn’t see her being bet the way she should as well.

Race 9: 1 1/4 Mile. (Inner Turf) F.G2 New York Stakes

The Ductor doesn’t have a strong opinion in here, here are the Contenders he’ll be using:
#9 Thundering Nights (6/1), #5 harvey’s Lil Goil (3/1). #2 Virgina Joy (10/1), #1 Magic Attitude (6/1), #12 Always Shopping (8/1).

Belmont Park Race 10: 2 Miles. (Turf) G2 Belmont Gold Cup Stakes

#8 Baron Samedi (8/5) – He looks like a clear standout to the Ductor. If he doesn’t win, nothing would surprise him.

Force Feed Friday: The Conductor’s Plays at Belmont Park

A racehorse with a green and yellow jockey competing on a racetrack at KY Downs.

The Conductor had a shorty winner in the opener yesterday, then couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. This week is a can’t lose Conductor! Tighten it up! We need money to play with tomorrow at Belmont, Let’s Ride.

Race 1: 7 Furlongs. Mdn 90k

#2 Per Capita (8/1) – The “other” Chad in this race.  His dam has produced 3 stakes winners from 6 starters, he’s posting bullet works and will be a bigger price.

Race 2: 6 Furlongs. (Inner Turf) F.S. Mdn 72k

#8 Lead Guitar (5/1) – 200k at auction, George Weaver can surprise with 1st time starters and the Conductor likes his work tab. His bullet work at Keeneland April 30th did not go unnoticed.

Race 3: 1 Mile. (Turf) OC 80000n1x

#1 Wild Medegliad’oro (5/1) – He took a little while to break his maiden, but he was very impressive stretching out on the grass for the 1st time.  This is what he’s wanted all along.

Race 4: 6 ½ Furlongs. S.OC 40000n2x

#7 Fiery Opal (10/1) – The favorites look tough to beat, but the Conductor is going to key this gelding in the trifecta, mostly underneath. Cutting back to a sprint after racing last weekend, he will come running late.

Race 5: 7 Furlongs. F.G3 Bed of Roses Stakes

#7 Separationofpowers (5/2) – Drawn well to the outside, she looks primed for this spot 2nd off the layoff.

Race 6: 1 Mile. (Turf) OC 100000n3x

#6 Gidu (8/1) – He has an early pace edge on this field and is working well entering today. The Conductor will root for him to get to the front and scamper away.

Race 7: 5 ½ Furlongs. 150k Tremont Stakes

#2 Maven (7/5) – The son of American Pharoah, he looked great in his debut win last time.

Race 8: 6 ½ Furlongs. G2 True North Stakes

*Gullet Shot of the Day #8 Do Share (5/1) – He ran solid last time closing into a moderate pace against Mitole, who we’ll see tomorrow in the Met Mile. The Conductor loves him in this spot, its his best bet on the card.

Belmont

Race 9: 1 ¼ Mile. (Inner Turf) F.G2 New York Stakes

*Never a Doubt Friday Night Bottle Service Lock of the Day #8 Homerique (6/5) – She’s too classy for this group.

Belmont

Race 10: 2 Miles. (Turf) G2 Belmont Gold Cup

#4 Red Knight (7/2) – He’s proven at the distance, 2nd off the layoff and does his best running at Belmont.

Race 11: 6 Furlongs. (Inner Turf) F.Alw 40000s

#8 Queen Kahen (10/1) – 1st off the claim for Linda Rice, his win last time on dirt gives him every chance if he takes to the lawn.
