Only two more sleeps for the passengers until the Breeders’ Cup. I will be posting the Ductor’s breakdown of each race leading up until Friday. The Ductor never sleeps, time for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint. Skip.

Friday Race 6: 5 Furlongs. (Turf) G2 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint

#9 One Timer (4/1) – This race is loaded with speed, but this gelding is the quickest. The Ductor likes the way he but away the pressure last time and at a flat 5 furlongs, he is very dangerous. The Ward horses will likely be over bet in here and thinks he’ll go off higher than this morning line with so many contenders.

#5 Hierarchy (12/1) – The Euros are usually a play against in this race, but many of them have more speed than usual. This colt is the Ductor’s favorite price and shipper in this race. He broke slow last time and his natural speed took him right to the front where he did all dirty work and was just nailed late. Shortening to 5 furlongs for the first time, the Ductor thinks he has a major chance if he breaks clean.

#11 Derrynane (12/1) – With all the early speed in here, this is the Ductor’s favorite closer. The Ductor likes that she’s proven she can close and win at this short distance. Rosario is the best rider for a closer in a turf sprint and she’ll get the setup she wants.

The posts have been the drawn, stew poured, and its time to go to work. The Conductor will finalize his picks the day of, but this is how he sees it initially. We start with the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint.

Friday, November 6 – Race 6: 5½ Furlongs. (Turf) G2 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint

#1 Mighty Gurkha (IRE) (20/1) – This colt hasn’t won on turf and the Conductor’s against the Europeans in this race in general. With a tough draw you can have him.

#2 Windy City Red (30/1) – He ran decent last time and was stuck behind horses in the stretch. He finished well, but the Conductor thinks this group is too tough.

#3 Lipizzaner (20/1) – The Conductor likes his European Form better than the #1, but doesn’t think he’s good enough.

#4 County Final (15/1) – This colt has strong early pace figures and the shorter distance will help, but the Conductor isn’t sure the Futurity was a particularly strong race. He’s leaning toward tossing all those runners here.

#5 Cowan (8/1) – He ran a very good race last time over this turf course, he was gaining on the runaway leader. With two bullet works coming in, he’s a contender.

#6 Ubettabelieveit (IRE) (20/1) – The Conductor already told you he doesn’t believe in the Euro’s sprinting.

#7 Momos (15/1)

– Of the runners exiting the Futurity the Conductor likes him the best. He was game on the inside and didn’t give up 3rd while against the flow. He’ll be a big price and will be better at 5 ½ furlongs.

#8 Amanzi Yimpilo (IRE) (15/1) – She was game to hold on after pressing a quick pace last time, but the Conductor doesn’t think the Speakeasy stakes was particularly strong. This is a big step up in class.

#9 After Five (6/1) – He was rolling late last time, but he was aided with by the race flow. The shorter distance today won’t help and the Conductor will be against him if he’s that price. He’ll be rolling late but won’t get their time.

#10 Bodenheimer (8/1) – His early speed makes him tough to ignore. The Conductor doesn’t think he’ll get as easy of a lead as he did last time, but he is dangerous.

#11 Into the Sunrise (15/1) – This colt has the Conductor’s brain in a pretzel at the moment. He doesn’t usually like the cutback on turf as much as he does the dirt. However, he’s run well against classy competition and has the early pace figures to put himself in a good spot. The more the Conductor looks at it, the more he thinks he’s sneaky.

*#12 Dirty Dangle (20/1)

This is the Conductor’s favorite price. She was so professional in her win up at Woodbine last time. Showed early speed, took back behind the frontrunners, waited patiently and when she found room skipped by them like they were standing still.

#13 Second of July (8/1) – He’s 2/2 and has won at big odds in his first two career starts. He got a favorable trip last time and with a tough post the Conductor is leaning toward fading him.

#14 Golden Pal (8/5) – This colt is a deserving favorite and his last race at Saratoga was ultra-impressive. He’s got early gas which makes the post more tolerable, but he still may be hung wide with speed to his inside. He’ll have to earn it at a small price.

The first BC race on Friday has a potential single for the Conductor. Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint time, Let’s Ride.

Race 5: 5 Furlongs. (Turf) G2 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint

#1 Chimney Rock (10/1) – This colt will be coming from the back of the pack, but the Conductor doesn’t give him much of a chance to win. If he couldn’t beat #7 Kimari (7/2) last time with that trip, he never will. The post position did him no favors as well.

#2 Band Practice (IRE) (12/1) – The Conductor’s mostly against the Euro shippers in these sprint races. This short of a sprint isn’t what they are used to. You must really impress the Conductor across the pond to make him respect you, and this filly doesn’t.

#3 Another Miracle (15/1) – This colt looks too slow for the Conductor.

#4 Dream Shot (IRE) (15/1) – He likes to run underneath at big prices, but isn’t good enough to win.

#5 Encoder (15/1) – This is a home game for this colt, and he’ll appreciate the cutback in distance after making an early move into a hot pace last time. Without the pace you would expect in here, the Conductor thinks he can only get up for minor awards.

#6 Alligator Alley (GB) (12/1) – Fade

*#7 Kimari (7/2)

The Conductor loved the new dimension he showed last time sitting off the pace. He’s shown brilliance in his young career and can dictate his own trip. The Conductor has a feeling that he is going to put on a show in this one.

#8 Dr Simpson (FR) – Fade

#9 Four Wheel Drive (3/1) – The other Ward runner, he’s shown major ability in his first two starts with two easy victories. He looks to get a good trip up close to the pace, but the Conductor would never take him at a lower price than Kimari, who is much more proven.

#10 A’Ali (IRE) (6/1) – Of the Euro shippers, he’s the one the Conductor likes best. He has a nice burst when asked and will appreciate the firmer ground. The Conductor thinks he’s dangerous.

#11 King Neptune (15/1) – Fade

#12 Cambria (12/1) – She hasn’t done anything wrong, but has a tough draw and doesn’t have the early speed to give her a chance on the win end.

Kimari looks to be one of the runners the Conductor is narrowing in on this Breeders Cup.

Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint Breakdown

0-4 yesterday at Parx was gross, but the posts are drawn for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint and the Conductor doesn’t have time for that.  His eyes are weary from watching all the tape, but he is giddy with excitement as the opportunity to make life changing scores for his passengers presents itself.  He doesn’t need the money after countless pick 6 gullet shots at Breeders’ Cups gone by, but he cares deeply about all of us. The best ponies from across the globe are all in Louisville this weekend for their shot at eternal glory.  Full race breakdowns for all Championship races will be posted today and tomorrow to get the passengers prepped for Friday and Saturday. Friday’s Breeders’ Cup Pick 5

Race 5: 5½ Furlongs. (Turf) Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint

The Europeans targeted this one and this looks like a very competitive group overall.  Babies sprinting on turf is always prone to chaos and there aren’t any standouts.  The Conductor must help us sort this one out.

The Contenders:

#1 Strike Silver (4/1) – You won’t see a more electric win than his victory last start in the Summer Stakes at Keeneland.  It was so jaw dropping that the Conductor called him a her:

He was slammed hard at the break and came from the clouds to get up in the final strides.  He’s shown he is versatile on turf and dirt, winning with different running styles. Strike Silver has also overcome trouble in his young career, proving he has loads of talent.  He’s a major contender and a must use for the conductor. The only concern is the poor post draw.

*Top Pick #2 Soldier’s Call (9/2) – He is the top European contender in this field and colts don’t do what he did last start very often.  As a 2-year-old he took on the best adult sprinters in Europe in the G1 Prix de l’Abbaye and was barely beaten a neck.  He adds Lasix today and has the potential to be an absolute freak.

*Gullet Shot #4 Stillwater Cove (20/1) – She’ll be the Conductor’s key in the race at a nice juicy number.  Last start in the G1 Natalma Stakes she made a strong early move into a hot pace. She rightfully faded late and she was also going a mile. The Conductor loves the cutback in distance. She showed the ability to pass horses and win two starts back. She should get a perfect setup in this race and has as good a chance as any.

#10 So Perfect (12/1) – The “other” Aidan O’Brian Shipper is another filly that the Conductor believes has a big chance.  In 6 career starts she’s never been over a length behind the winner.  She’ll be a bigger price with jockey Ryan Moore choosing to ride #8 Sergei Prokofiev (6/1), but So Perfect beat him by 5 lengths when they squared off in the G1 Keeneland Phoenix.  Give the Conductor double the number, He dares you.
