Race 2: 1 Mile. (Turf) OC 25000n1x

#7 Rothschild (8/1) – This colt impressed the Conductor last fall with some strong efforts despite poor trips. He has a class edge over this field and is working well for a new barn. Making his first start as a 4-year-old and adding Lasix for the first time today, he has every right to improve. 5/1 or better is fair.

Race 7: 1 Mile. (Turf) Colonel Liam Stakes

#3 Enterdadragon (8/1) – This gelding was keen fighting Maragh early into the first turn last time. Even though he wasted all that energy, he still finished well against a slow pace and frontrunner flow. Now getting a turf rider upgrade to Davis, the Conductor sees Enterdadragon getting a much more favorable trip today. Anything close to 8/1 would be a treat.

Race 13: 1 1/16 Mile. G2 Coolmore Fountain of Youth Stakes

#2 Sovereignty (3/1) – 3/1 is as low as the Conductor will take on this colt, but he has the most upside in the field. He’s steadily improving and Mott has been very patient with him. He returns off the bench to make his first start as a three-year-old and the Conductor is expecting a peak effort that vaults him into the Derby spotlight. He has plenty of talent.

Race 14: 1 3/8 Mile. (Turf) G2 Mac Diarmida Stakes

#4 Missed the Cut (9/2) – This is a wide open race, but the Conductor will trust this Cherie DeVaux runner off the bench. He was in great form last year, so much so that they gave him a shot across the pond vs the big boys. He’s had plenty of time off since that last poor performance, and the Conductor likes the confidence to put him right back in a Grade 2 off the bench. The Conductor trusts DeVaux to have him ready to fire.

0/3 Friday, but Xy Speed did run a good 3rd at 20/1. Hopefully some of you passengers were able to cash a nice trifecta in that race. We have an outstanding betting card at Gulfstream ahead of us on Saturday, let’s make it one to remember. Skip.

Race 8: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.G3 Herecomesthebride Stakes

#10 Agra (20/1) – This filly showed talent on debut, sprinting on turf in New York last fall. She’s shipped down to Gulfstream this winter and has run two good races over synthetic since. Her last race was much better than it looks on paper too. She fought Bravo the entire 1st turn as he tried to rate her and she still made an eye-catching wide move on the turn. Mott took the blinkers off her after that race and she has a solid work tab entering today. If she can relax with the blinkers off and a new rider, she has the upside to take a major step forward here.  Agra can surprise this field at a big number.

Race 11: 1 Mile. G2 Gulfstream Park Mile Stakes

#4 Il Miracolo (9/2) – The Conductor thinks this is the only horse in the field that can beat #5 Tumbarumba. His races last fall were fast enough to win this race and he ran better than it looks in the Pegasus last time off the bench. He was up close and wide to a scorching pace and rightfully tired late. That race was against a much tougher group and looks to set him up perfectly for the cutback to a mile today. The Conductor sees him running a career best effort here and that would make him tough to beat.

Race 12: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) G3 Canadian Turf Stakes

*Gullet Shot of the Day #1 Saratoga Flash (12/1) – This gelding is exiting two races with no chance trips on synthetic and is now switching back to his preferred turf surface. Most importantly, there is absolutely no other early pace in this race. He does his best running over this Gulfstream turf course and he’ll be all alone on the front end setting moderate fractions. This is a weak Grade 3 field and the Conductor doesn’t see this Saffie Joseph runner fading down the stretch. Gate to wire. Skip.

Race 14: 1 1/16 Mile. G2 Coolmore Fountain of Youth Stakes

#8 Locked (5/2) – This colt’s closing kick is no joke and there looks to be plenty of early pace for him to run at in Saturday’s feature. The Conductor sees him winning easy and stamping himself as a serious Derby contender.

The racing slowly keeps getting better each week. The 2023 Fountain of Youth Stakes will likely produce the early Kentucky Derby favorite.

Gulfstream Park Race 7: 7 Furlongs. OC 62500b

#6 Weyburn (4/1) – The Ductor must be against the favorite #2 White Abarrio (8/5) after his dismal effort in the Pegasus. Weyburn’s fastest career race came at this distance at Gulfstream off a similar layoff. Although Jerkens is only 9% with runners off the bench this year, he has a +$0.70 ROI and 23/46 starters have hit the board.

#10 Legends Can’t Die (8/1) – Strangely in a dirt sprint, he’s the only horse in the race that wants the early lead. He’s working well and Irad hops aboard for a barn he rarely rides for. His race two back was above par for this level and he has a good shot to wire the field.

Race 8: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) G3 Canadian Turf Stakes

#2 California Frolic (20/1) – The Ductor thinks #3 Emmanuel (8/5) is tough to beat. If you’re a passenger looking to inject some value underneath to your trifecta, this is your colt. He’s won at 7/1 and run 2nd at 38/1 in is two turf starts. He draws well to the inside and should get a good setup with a quick pace to close into. 2nd off the bench, he should run a top effort.

Race 9: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.G3 Herecomesthebride Stakes

#9 Danse Macabre (10/1) – Making her first start as a 3-year-old, she’s yet to run a bad race. She’s stretching out to a mile for the first time and working her eyeballs out. She has enough early speed to work out a good trip from an outside post and there isn’t a ton of early speed in this race either. This filly has upside.

Race 10: 1 Mile.G2 WinStar Gulfstream Park Mile Stakes

#7 Charge It (7/5) – The Ductor doesn’t see much value in this race. Charge It looks to get a perfect trip and the shorter distance will only help him.

Race 11: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.G3 Honey Fox Stakes

#8 Miss Yearwood (12/1) – This filly makes her 4-year-old debut and she showed talent last year. She has a thunderous late kick and she should get a great setup in this race. Luca Panici on the turf is a tough jockey to back, but it will help her price. Drop back, hug the rail, tip out and mow.

Race 12: 1 Mile. F.G2 Davona Dale Stakes

#2 Infinite Diamond (10/1) – The Ductor doesn’t think the Forward Gal Stakes was strong and is looking for prices here. This filly’s return as a 3-year-old was very promising. Although she got a solid rail trip, she had to wait patiently eating kickback before exploding in the stretch. She should run even better with that race under her belt and a step forward puts her in the winners circle.

#9 Dorth Vader (15/1) – As you passengers know, there is no better angle in racing than lone speed. This filly should have no problem clearing this field early, the only question is if she can get the distance. At 15/1 she must be included on all your tickets.

Race 13: 1 3/8 Mile. (Turf) G2 Mac Diarmida Stakes

*Gullet Shot of the Day #7 Master Piece (5/1) – This is the Ductor’s best bet on the card. He gets major class relief today after his last two starts. A Grade 2 winner, he draws well and was finishing best in the Pegasus Turf last time. He was stuck behind a wall of horses in the stretch and couldn’t find the seam he needed. He galloped out in front of the winner and looks primed to run his best here. In a wide open full field, his morning line should hold.

Race 14: 1 1/6 Mile.  G2 Fountain of Youth Stakes

#8 Rocket Can (8/1) – The Holy Bull had a weak field like this Fountain of Youth Stakes, but this colt was miles the best. He was impossibly wide going into the first turn and stalked a slow pace while finishing strong. While Forte (7/5) showed more talent last year and could stamp himself as the Derby favorite with a big effort, the high performing 2-year-olds have flopped this far.
