Saratoga Picks

Two 2nds Friday to continue the theme of the meet. This is fun. We are having fun. There is rain in the forecast today too! Yippee! On the turf for now at Saratoga, but pay close attention. They could rip them off the turf at any moment. Skip.

Race 8: 6½ Furlongs. G2 Herb Moelis Memorial Saratoga Special Stakes

#4 Haul (3/1) – In a difficult 2-year-old race, the Conductor will lean heavily on this colt. He impressed in his debut, finishing strongly after pressing a quick pace. The added distance should be his friend today, and Mr. Ductor is heavily against #6 Rhyme Schemes (4/5). Rhyme Scheme’s last speed figure is inflated, since he ran over a speed biased track.

Race 9: 1 Mile. (Inner Turf) G1 Fourstardave

#6 Casa Creed (7/5) – This Ol’ Boy hasn’t lost a step and might be better than ever. He had bad trip last time in the Kelso and still won easy. He was uncovered most of the backstretch and sustained a 4-wide uncovered move the entire turn. Casa Creed will get his picture taken in the Fourstardave again today.

#7 Ice Chocolat (8/1) –  This gelding ran a solid 4th behind Casa Creed last time after a terrible start. He rallied with energy down the stretch and should improve off that effort. That was his first start going two turns in a long time too. He’ll be a square price and the Conductor will be screaming for a 6-7 exacta in the feature.

Race 11: 1 1/16 Mile. (Inner Turf) F.S.Alw 95000n1x

*Gullet Shot of the Day #1 Spinning Colors (8/1) – The Conductor likes this fillies progression since she’s moved to the turf and stretched out in distance. She had a good trip last time breaking her maiden, but ran a strong late pace figure and extended on the gallop out. She’ll get a nice ground saving trip today and has upside trying two turns for the first time. She can upset this weak allowance field.

Esophagus Slice Saturday: Fourstardave Day Plays at Saratoga

A jockey riding a chestnut horse named Fourstardave during a race on a grassy track.

Fourstardave Day at Saratoga and Arlington Million Day in Chicago. Hell of a day of racing, Let’s Ride.

Race 1: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) S.MC 25000

#2 Startup Nation (9/5) – This looks like a classic low level claiming race Chad is going to steal to try and win the meet.

Race 2: 6 Furlongs. S.Mdn 78k

#2 Luna’s in Charge (8/1) – 2nd off the layoff, he easily cleared to the lead before fading last start. He’ll be in good spot in a race without much pace and will be more fit today.

Race 3: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) Mdn 90k

#4 My Sacred Place (6/1) – Heavily bet in his two sprints on dirt, he stretches out and tries the turf for the first time. Servis is a gaudy 39% with a +$1.24 ROI with runners 1st time routing this year and has a positive ROI moving them to the grass as well.

Race 4: 6 Furlongs. Clm 16000

#2 Bustin Match Four (12/1) – He stumbled at the start and didn’t run well last time. The Conductor liked his maiden breaker two back and likes his juicy price today,

Race 5: 6 Furlongs. Mdn 90k

#2 Kittansett (5/2) – 1.4 Milli at auction and fast works to boot. He’s gotta be good.

Race 6: 5½ Furlongs. (Turf) F.Alw 92000n1x

#9 Paper Clip (10/1) – 2nd off the layoff, she was well be last time and set a scorching pace before fading. With a better post draw this time, the Conductor sees her running a big one.

Race 7: 6 Furlongs. Mdn 90k

#7 Gozilla (5/2) – That 59’ flat work two back catches the Conductor’s eye.

Race 8: 6 ½ Furlongs. Saratoga Special Stakes Presented by Miller Light

#3 Green Light Go (2/1) – The Conductor really like his debut win, dueling the opening up. He’ll be tough to beat.

Race 9: 1 Mile. (Inner Turf) G1 Fourstardave H.

*Gullet Shot of the Day #6 Got Stormy (6/1) – Her blowout win last time looks to set her up perfectly for this spot. Her 3rd in the Jenny Wily three back gives her a chance vs Uni and the Conductor sees her bringing her best today.

Race 10: 6 Furlongs. F.Alw 92000n1x

#4 La Chancla (5/2) – She looks like a clear Saratoga standout to the Conductor. He won’t try to beat her.

Race 11: 5½ Furlongs. (Turf) S.MC 40000

#4 I’m Elmer J Fudd (8/1) – Dropping to the state-bred claiming ranks he showed early speed in his debut vs much tougher. He’s working well leading into today.
