Gulfstream Park: Key Horses for Wednesday, December 6

Horses and jockeys at the start gate during a race at Gulfstream Park.

The Ductor needed a break after Thanksgiving with the turf season coming to an end in New York. The time has come to load the train up with coal and head down to Florida and Gulfstream Park for the winter. Let’s win the passengers a new set of 2 irons and escape the cold. Skip.

Gulfstream Park Race 5: 1 Mile. (Turf) Clm 20000b

#9 El Socio (20/1) – This colt romped on synthetic after shipping to Gulfstream Park last time. The class drop also included a move  to a small barn. Now he steps back up in class and returns to turf. Although he’s never won on turf, he’s faced tougher competition in the Midwest and has run figures competitive for this level. El Socio has an outside chance at winning, but he can certainly grab a piece and juice up the trifecta.

Race 9: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.Moc 40000

*Gullet Shot of the Day #6 Rich Gift (20/1) – This filly made just her 2nd career start off a break sprinting last time at Laurel Park. She broke slow that day and was strangled right out of the gate, before evenly the rest of the way. That race was clearly a prep for this spot. Today, she ships into Gulfstream Park, stretches out to a mile, and drops to the claiming ranks for the first time. The Toner barn is best with runners 2nd off the bench. This year Toner is 23% with a +$0.77 ROI with 39 starters with this move. Rich Gift could be the present we need to end this card in style.

I hope you passengers got some rest. We have quite the pony day in store for us down at the Florida Derby. Mandatory Pick 6 Payout and stakes races, that’s just what the Ductor ordered. Skip!

Race 9: 1 Mile. (Turf) OC 62500b

#8 First Primo (8/1) – He needed that last race off the bench and his 2020 campaign was marred by layoffs. He has the back class to beat this bunch and the Conductor sees him running his A race today.

Race 10: 1½ Mile. (Turf) G2 Pan American Stakes

#7 Moon Over Miami (5/1) – The Conductor thought he ran huge last time off the bench closing into a slow pace. He’ll like the added distance and be flying late.

Race 11: 1 Mile. (Turf) Cutler Bay Stakes

#8 Step Dancer (6/1) – Making his first start as a 3 year old, natural maturity puts him ahead of this group in the Conductor’s opinion. His races last fall were very strong and he’s working well leading into today

Race 12: 1 1/16 Mile. F.G2 Gulfstream Park Oaks

#1 Con Lima (3/1) – In a race without much pace, this filly will be the controlling speed and she’s tough as nails. She’s yet to miss the exacta on turf or dirt.

Race 13: 1 3/8 Mile. (Turf) F.G3 Orchid Stakes

#4 Morning Molly (8/1) – Another girl whose tough as nails, this mare continues to progress up the class latter and run winning races. She looks to get a nice tracking trip and first run on the speed.

Race 14: 1 1/8 Mile.G1 Curlin Florida Derby

*Gullet Shot of the Day Spielberg (4/1) – The Conductor is going against Greatest Honour one more time. The California runners are a cut above this Florida crop and this colt is working his best entering today. He’ll use his speed to get a good position early and Greatest Honour will be just a little too late.

Gulfstream Park: Fountain of Youth Stakes Day Key Horses

Gulfstream Park Picks

Well, the Conductor is in a hole entering a great Fountain of Youth Stakes Day. No excuses, just pick up a shovel and get back to work. Let’s Ride.

Race 11: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.Honey Fox G3 Honey Fox Stakes

#8 Jakarta (15/1) – Stretching out off a short break, she’s the lone speed in a race devoid of any pace. She’s won at a mile on dirt and Mott is one of the best stretching them out. She The Conductor can see her stealing it on the front end, or at least holding on in the trifecta.

Race 12: 1 Mile. F.G2 Davona Dale Stakes

#5 Millefeuille (5/1)#3 Vequist (7/5) is the clear one to beat, but her trainer is only 2/47 off a 90+ day layoff this year. This filly is the only one close to her on numbers and the Conductor likes her shortening back to a mile.

Race 13: 1 3/16 Mile. (Turf) F.G3 The Very One Stakes

*Gullet Shot of the Day #9 War Like Goddess (10/1) – This filly has run monster late pace figures in her first two career starts and gets the acid test today. There aren’t any standouts in this field and the Conductor thinks she has loads of talent.

Race 14: 1 1/16 Mile. G2 Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth Stakes

#1 Drain the Clock (5/1) – The Conductor liked the way he rated last time and won with ease. Stretching out for the first time, if he can get the distance, he’ll have every chance.

#5 Jirafales (15/1) – Re-rallying after being steadied hard on the turn last time, he galloped out well passed Drain the Clock. He will like every inch of ground.

Gulfstream Park: Late Pick 4 Key Horses for Friday, February 12

Horses and jockeys at the start gate during a race at Gulfstream Park.

Aesthetically looked like he was going to steal the finale at Gulfstream Thursday at 16/1, but just faded late. Hopefully a few passengers cashed the exacta or tri. Let’s get a few of these bombs across the wire first Friday. Skip.

Race 7: 1 Mile. (Turf) OC 75000n1x

#7 Hot Blooded (12/1) – If this colt is anything close to his morning line, the Conductor will throttle it to the Gulfstream windows. His lone turf effort was by far his best, beating open stakes company. Working well for a strong barn off the layoff and getting Lasix for the first time, he has major upside.

Race 8: 1 Mile. S.OC 12500n1x

#6 Our Fantazy (9/5) – Drawn well to the outside, she’s faster than the favorite and the Ductor sees her getting the job done.

Race 9: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.OC 62500b

*Gullet Shot of the Day #8 Sun Summers (9/2) – She’s 3 for her last 5 and hasn’t missed the board in those starts, all coming at different tracks. She was miles best in her last start, stuck behind horses down the stretch and galloping out well past the others. The Conductor is singling her.

Race 10: 1 Mile. MC 35000

#3 Weight of Glory (15/1) – He didn’t run a step last time at Gulfstream. Something clearly went wrong, but he returns to the races quickly. Taking the blinkers back off, he has early speed in a race without much pace. Trainer Guadalupe Preciado is also 6/14 with a +$4.61 ROI this year 2nd off the claim.

A few better trips yesterday could have made it a better day. However, we don’t want excuses, we want winners! With Oaklawn’s weekend being canceled, the train will be stationed at Gulfstream and Santa Anita thru Sunday. Skip.

Race 7: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.OClm 35000

*Gullet Shot of the Day #2 Appointed (15/1) – She won easily on debut and also was well bet that day for a 4% barn. She’s moved into a better barn and has every chance in this wide-open affair.

Race 8: 6 Furlongs. OClm 50000

#2 Paladio (5/1) – The Saffie runners look tough in here, but this colt intrigues the Conductor and his price will likely float up. He found his form on the class drop last time at Gulfstream and is now bumping back up vs tougher. He has the figures to win at this level and has already beaten the morning line favorite too.

Race 9: 1½ Mile. (Turf) OC 35000n1x

#6 Focus Group (5/1) – This old man is dropping out of stakes company for the first time in years. Putting the blinkers back on today, the Conductor sees him finding his way back to the winners circle.

Race 10: 1 Mile. (Turf) MC 25000

#6 Aesthetically (12/1) – He showed something sprinting in his debut at Gulfstream, making up ground on the turn. Additionally, stretching out for the first time, he has upside in another wide open affair.

Gulfstream Park: 2021 Pegasus World Cup Day Pick 6 Breakdown

A racehorse with a jockey in red and white attire competing at a horse racing event.

After day 1 at Oaklawn it looks like every Cox runner is going to fire. Shocking. We’ll worry about Oaklawn again on Sunday. We have big pools and nice fields for the Pegasus World Cup down in Florida. Let’s bring Gulfstream to its knees. Skip.

Race 7: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.G3 Marshua’s River Stakes

#1 Bella Laura (12/1) – This mare is in good form and continues to improve in the Avila barn. She looks to get a nice trip up close to a moderate pace, and the layoff is not a concern for the Conductor. Avila is 20% with a $4.10 ROI with his last 40 runners off the bench.

Other Contenders: #3 Zoelle (5/1), #6 Evil Lyn (9/2), #8 Tuned (8/1)

Race 8: 1½ Mile. (Turf) F.G3 La Prevoyante Stakes

*Gullet Shot of the Day #2 Sister Hanan (12/1) – This mare is ultra-consistent despite having trouble staying on the racetrack. 2nd off the layoff after an easy win, she looks to get a nice ground saving trip and the distance should be no problem.

pegasus world cup

Other Contenders: #1 Always Shopping (3/1), #5 Lovely Lucky (10/1), #9 Cap de Creus (12/1)

Race 9: 7 Furlongs. F.G2 2 Inside Information Stakes

#5 Piedi Bianchi (12/1) – This race looks to be the most difficult of the sequence, so if you can narrow it down you’ll have a big advantage. This mare is the biggest price on the morning line and has a major chance. Cutting back to 7 furlongs after dueling on a hot pace routing on turf, she’ll be very fit.

Other Contenders: All

Race 10: 1½ Mile. (Turf) G3 W. L. McKnight Stakes

*#1 Doswell (7/2) – The Conductor is going to lean heavily on this gelding, who ran huge last time after being stuck behind horses at the top of the stretch. That was a tougher field than this one and the added distance should be no problem as he galloped out past the winner last time. He’s been very impressive this year.

Other Contenders: #3 Mirinaque (30/1), #5 Sadler’s Joy (3/1), #7 Tide of the Sea (10/1)

Race 11: 1 3/16 Mile. (Turf) G1 Pegasus World Cup Turf

#5 Colonel Liam (7/2) – This is not a very strong Grade 1 field and this colt has the most upside. Steadily progressing for Pletcher he’s run some monster late pace figures in his last few starts and looks ready for the challenge.

Other Contenders: #8 Anothertwistafate (5/1), #11 Say the Word (6/1), #12 Social Paranoia (8/1)

Race 12: 1 1/8 Mile. G1 Pegasus World Cup

#4 Knicks Go (5/2) – The Conductor hates chalk, but this horse has turned into a full-blown freak in the Cox barn (shocking) and nobody in here is quick enough to put pressure on him early. With enough time off and solid works since the Breeders’ Cup the Conductor sees him running the off their feet.

Prices to Include Underneath: #2 Coastal Defense (15/1), #3 Independence Hall (20/1)

It’s Pegasus week. Time to get things rolling down at Gulfstream. Let’s Ride.

Race 6: 1 Mile. F.OClm 50000

#3 Sunny Isle Beach (5/2) – She got the job done last time at Gulfstream off the break and is working your eyeballs out entering today. She looks tough to beat.

Race 7: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) S.OC 16000n1x

*Gullet Shot of the Day #3 Dominate Themoment (10/1) – This gelding got cooked in a hot pace last time at and they’re taking the blinkers off today. His numbers fit with this group and he gets a rider upgrade.

Gulfstream Park

Race 8: 6 Furlongs. Clm 35000

#7 Shot (8/1) – Lightly raced, dropping in class and with a nice outside draw, he fits right in this spot.

Race 9: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) F.Clm 35000n2L

#1 Obstinate (20/1) – This race is wide open and this filly caught the Conductor’s attention at a big number. Making her 1st start off a layoff for the Keneally, she showed ability in 2019 and Alvarado takes the mount for a barn he never rides for. Keneally is ice cold at this meet and may be trying to sneak her back at a lower level than she is capable.

Race 10: 5 Furlongs. (Turf) MC 20000

#6 Blakenstein (5/1) – This colt was no match for a blowout winner in his debut, but he was well bet and showed early speed. He has some turf in his blood, so the switch to the grass shouldn’t hurt. #7 Joyful Surprise (5/2) is the one to beat.

Got Glee at 6/1 kept the train moving at Gulfstream Park Friday, but we don’t like to cruise. The Conductor wants the train moving so fast that he can’t even steer it. Let’s Ride.

Race 8: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) F.S. Sunshine Filly and Mare Turf Stakes

#4 Sun Summers (7/2) – She became a new animal in the Maker barn and looks to get a great trip up close to a moderate pace. 7/2 would be a fair price.

Race 9: 1 1/8 Mile. S.Sunshine Classic Stakes

#4 Roman Empire (4/1) – The Conductor likes this colt’s steady progression and he looks to be primed for a top effort 2nd off the layoff. He has enough early speed to put himself in a good position and this field doesn’t have much pace.

Race 10: 6 Furlongs. S.Sunshine Sprint Stakes

*Double Barreled Buckshot #8 Jackson (9/2) – He made an early move last time and tired late. Shortening a furlong will help him today and he looks to get a perfect stalking trip.

#9 Inter Miami (8/1) – Getting back to Gulfstream Park where he runs his best, he’s making his first start for a hot barn and has wicked early speed. The Conductor sees him running a big one.

Gulfstream Park

Race 11: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) S.Sunshine Turf Stakes

#9 Venezuelan Hug (3/1) – There looks to be a heavily contested pace in this race, so this colt should have a perfect setup.

Race 12: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) Clm 16000

#10 Sniper Kitten (3/1) – Taking a big class drop, he made an early move into a hot pace last time. Without much pace in here, he looks like a cinch.

Gulfstream Park Picks

That’s much better. Crystalle at 7/2 and Domineer at 5/1 get home in the final two at Gulfstream to make it a nice Thursday for the Ductor. Now it’s time to get the train into 2nd gear heading into the weekend. Let’s Ride.

Race 6: 1 Mile. Mdn 47k

#3 Or’effice (6/1) – Something went wrong in his last race at Gulfstream, however he’s had some time off since. His 2nd two back came back very fast on numbers and he’s also bred to be a good one. Furthermore, he should stay a nice price in this salty maiden field.

Race 7: 5 Furlongs. (Turf) F.Clm 16000

#7 Got Glee (5/1) – Drawn well to the outside, this mare should be able to clear this field early. This group isn’t the toughest and she may be able to sneak away on the front end too.

Race 8: 6 Furlongs. F.Clm 6250n2L

#10 Lalali (6/1) – 3rd off the layoff today, the Conductor liked the way she dug in last time behind a next out winner. Shortening ½ furlong should help her here. #3 Beautiful Rosie (20/1) and #4 Shellphone (30/1) are two bombs the Conductor likes in this spot as well.

Race 9: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) OClm 25000

#1 Shang’s Sister (8/1) – The Conductor thought her maiden breaker last time was very strong and she should also improve off that effort. 1st time Lasix today doesn’t hurt either.

Race 10: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) F.Mdn 47k

*Gullet Shot of the Day #3 Coastana (20/1) – This filly is well bred for going long on the grass and her work tab at Palm Meadows looks very solid. Additionally, Trainer Cherie DeVaux is red hot at this meet and has a +$1.24 ROI this year with 1st time starters. She’s 12% with a $1.62 ROI debuting runners on turf.

The Conductor is going to end up back in the sewer wrestling the rats for cheese if he doesn’t pick it up at Gulfstream Park soon. The best motivation is desperation, Let’s Ride.

Gulfstream Park

Race 6: 5 Furlongs. (Turf) Clm 16000

*Scratched #1 Mar Vista Miguel (15/1) – 3rd off the layoff today, this old man still has early speed and should be able to clear the field from the rail. If he can find himself on the lead turning for home, he’s tough to pass.

Race 7: 1 Mile. F.S.OC 12500n1x

#2 Miss Peppina (5/2) – Making her 2nd start in the Pletcher barn and off the layoff, she looks to get a favorable trip stretching out in a race without much pace.

Race 8: 5 Furlongs. (Turf) Alw 16000s

*Gullet Shot of the Day #4 New York’s Finest (8/1) – This old man is working well for a new barn off the break and the Conductor likes the bump up in class. Saez taking the mount means he’s ready to roll and when he fires, he’s game.

Race 9: 1 3/8 Mile. (Turf) F.OC 35000n1x

*#8 Crystalle (3/1) – This filly showed talent as a two-year-old at Gulfstream and she’s been stuck behind slow paces this year. The Conductor thinks the added distance will be her friend and anything around 3/1 would be a treat.

Race 10: 5½ Furlongs. F.Clm 12500n3L

#2 Domineer (4/1) – This filly is progressing and has early gas. The shorter distance will help her today.
