Saratoga: Best Bets and Analysis for Saturday 7/26/25

A group of thoroughbred horses racing at Saratoga with jockeys in colorful silks.

You passengers hammered the Conductor’s winner last Sunday. Very disappointing cards this week at Saratoga had the Conductor sitting on his hands. He’s ready to fire today on a very enticing Jim Dandy Card. Let’s Ride.

Race 9: 1 1/16 Mile. (Inner Turf) F.G3 Lake George Stakes

#1 Reigning Flowers (15/1) – The Conductor thinks this race is wide open, and ripe for a price. The favorite, Classic Q (2/1), hasn’t won going further than a mile and will face more pace pressure today. Reigning Flowers kept good company last year and looks ready to fire a peak effort. Her two races this year have been rained off the turf, and over a yielding turf course. Third off the layoff and getting back to her best surface and distance, she fits with this group. Reigning Flowers has the best late pace figures in the field and will get a ground saving trip. Bombs away in the Lake George Stakes.

Race 10: 1 1/8 Mile. G2 Jim Dandy Stakes

#1 Baeza (3/1) – The Conductor is going to give Baeza on more shot against Sovereignty (2/5). Sovereignty trounced him in the Belmont, but the Conductor has no idea why Baeza was so far back in that race. He has much more early speed and needs to use it to his advantage. Now with a nice rail draw, a shorter distance, and Berrios aboard, the Conductor thinks this is his spot. Sovereignty is a monster, but this isn’t a race he needs to win, and it’s shorter than his best distance. Baeza will have first run on the lone speed, #4 Mo Plex (10/1), and the Conductor thinks he shows his true talent today.

Jim Dandy Stakes Saturday Picks — July 29, 2023 | Jim Dandy Day at Saratoga

Saratoga Jim Dandy Stakes

1 for 3 with a 2nd Friday brings the train back into neutral. Saturday has the fattest pools anyway. Classic rope a dope strategy. Give a little back Friday to let Toga feel confident again, then rip out it’s gullet in round 2. Jim Dandy Stakes Day at the Spa, Let’s Ride.

Race 9: 1 Mile. (Inner Turf) F.Alw 149500n1x

#3 Bolivie (12/1) – This is a wide open allowance race and the Conductor likes this filly quite a bit. She ships in from Churchill, where she ran a solid 3rd last time vs similar company. She had a nice ground saving trip, but she had to wait behind horses in the stretch and finished with plenty left in the tank. Bolivie galloped out for miles after they hit the wire. She has plenty of back class in France and is the only horse in the field exiting a two turn race. Walsh horses have been firing thus far at the Saratoga meet and McCarthy is riding well too. Bolivie will be mowing down the stretch.

Race 10: 1 1/8 Mile. G2 Jim Dandy Stakes

*Gullet Shot of the Day #3 Hit Show (6/1) – This should should be no surprise to the passengers. The Conductor liked this colt behind Arcangelo in the Belmont, and he was clearly 2nd best that day. He had a brutal trip 3-wide around the first turn, shut off entering the stretch and still finished gamely. The Conductor likes the rider switch to Saez today and he’ll be a square price again. The Conductor doesn’t know how you don’t bet this colt in the feature.

Saratoga Jim Dandy Stakes

Race 12: 1 3/8 Mile. (Inner Turf) F.Mdn 136.5k

#9 Fizzy (5/1) – This filly was well bet on debut for Pletcher and had a very interesting journey. She was stuck behind horses in the stretch and Irad never tried to get her out. He waited until the very end when she had no shot. When he finally tipped her out, she galloped out well in front of the pack. This was a clear stiff job/prep and it makes sense that they stretch her out further here.  Prat hops aboard and the Conductor thinks their is much more under the hood. Connections wanted to wait to get their picture taken at Saratoga, not Belmont.

Saratoga: Jim Dandy Day Key Horses for Saturday, July 31

A racehorse with a blue and white jockey, showcasing speed and determination during a horse race, with a focus on the horse's features.

Alright, the Ductor has had enough of the slop. Finally, we get to Jim Dandy day and it looks like we’re getting back to a fast track and turf racing. The Ductor’s best bet of the meet so far is on the docket. Time to hit’ em where it hurts . Skip.

Saratoga Race 8: 6 Furlongs. – G1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt H.

#9 Special Reserve (9/2) – This is a very salty, competitive field and there are many ways you can go. This gelding is in sharp form and has an early pace edge over this group. Drawn well to the outside, he’ll have the lead as they turn for home and the Ductor will take a shot he scampers away at a decent price.

Race 9: 1 1/8 Mile. – G2 Jim Dandy Stakes

*Gullet Shot of the Day #4 Keepmeinmind (6/1) – The Ductor is salivating to bet this colt. Essential Quality will win easy if he repeats his Belmont, but the Ductor sees him regressing, especially with his main target being the Travers. Keepmeinmind continues to be up against tough pace scenarios and he finally took a big step forward last time. With the blinkers on he can lay a little closer to the pace and he has two bullet works over the Toga dirt. He wasn’t too far behind Essential Quality as a 2 year old and the Ductor thinks this is the spot where he turns the tables. The graveyard of favorites will claim another victim and the Ductor will pull the lever.

Jim Dandy

Race 10: 1 3/8 Mile. (Inner Turf) G2 Bowling Green Stakes

#3 Breakpoint (10/1) – This Chilean superstar was hammered at the windows last time and had no chance being so far back behind a tepid pace. That race was likely a prep for this spot anyway and the Ductor like that Chad stays aggressive with him. This race is wide open and anything over 6/1 is worth a play.

Jim Dandy Day at the Spa, what a treat. Let’s Ride.

Race 1: 5½ Furlongs. (Turf) MC 40000

#6 Blacktop Legend (6/1) – Making his 2nd start off the claim for Gary Guillo, this gelding cuts back to a sprint after pressing a hot pace going a route last time.

Race 2: 6 Furlongs. Mdn 90k

#5 Bossy Bride (8/1) – He’s run well closing into slow paces in his young career. He looks to get a good trip today.

Race 3: 5½ Furlongs. (Turf) Clm 25000

#4 Psychic Energy (9/2) – 1st off the claim for Linda Rice, she’s heating up.

Race 4: 5½ Furlongs. Mdn 90k

#5 Kawalski (4/1) – Well bet in his debut, he got off to a slow start and ran well to close for 3rd into a slow pace. With experience, the Conductor sees him taking a big step forward.

Race 5: 1 1/16 Mile. (Inner Turf) OC 62500n2x

#5 Prioritize (10/1) – Chad Brown will likely win this race with either the #2 or #7, but the Conductor will key this boy in the exacta. Making his 3rd start off the layoff, he’s had no pace to run at in his last two starts. With a fair setup he’ll be right there at the wire.

Race 6: 6 Furlongs. F.S.Alw 80000n1x

#9 More Mischief (9/2) – Making her 2nd start of the year, she’s steadily progressing and looks to get a perfect strip up close to a slow pace.

#7 Sweet Meadow List (8/1) – Switching back to dirt, there is noting to knock about her dirt efforts.

Race 7: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) Mdn 90k

#5 Economic Policy (5/2), #2 Blanket of Roses (6/1) – Chad Brown

Race 8: 6 Furlongs. Alw 92000n1x

#9 Overdeliver (3/1) – Cutting back to a sprint, he looks to get a perfect staking trip drawn to the outside with a wicked pace up front.

Race 9: 6 Furlongs. G1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt H.

*Gullet Shots of the Day #2 Strike Power (6/1) and #7 Do Share (15/1) – The Conductor sees the favorite #1 Mitole (1/1) vulnerable in here. Strike Power ran a monster race behind Catalina Cruiser last start and will put mighty pace pressure on Mitole, who must send from the rail.  The Conductor thinks Strike Power has a major chance to pull the upset and will also give Do Share one more shot. There is a possibility of a pace meltdown in here and Do Share will be flying late at a juicy number.

Jim Dandy

Race 10: 1 3/8 Mile. (Inner Turf) G2 Bowling Green Stakes

#3 Ya Primo (8/1) – Watch the replay of her last start in Chile. She has major trouble at the start and still obliterates a 15-horse field. The Conductor doesn’t care who she beat, she has talent and is in Chad Brown’s hands.

Race 11: 1 1/8 Mile. G2 Jim Dandy Stakes

*Never a Doubt Feature Race Lock of the Day #4 Global Campaign (2/1) – In a race devoid of pace, the Conductor sees him controlling the race on the front end. Gate to wire, #5 Tacitus (7/5) will be too far back to run him down.

Jim Dandy

Race 12: 1 Mile. (Turf) Clm 30000n2L

#4 My Macho (5/1) – He’s lightly raced and trending in the right direction.
