Aqueduct Saturday Picks — May 11, 2024 | Best Bets & Full Card Handicapping

A vibrant depiction of a horse race featuring multiple horses and jockeys in colorful silks, with a large crowd in the background.

Well the rail certainly wasn’t the place to be Friday at Aqueduct and that’s exactly where the Conductor’s horses faltered. Back to fast and firm today in New York, other than race 11 which was taken off the turf. Time to get the train moving in the right direction. Skip.

Race 6: 1 1/8 Mile. G3 Peter Pan Stakes

#1 Protective (8/1) – The Conductor likes both Pletcher colts at square prices in the Peter Pan. Protective got a good ground saving trip after a poor start in the Wood, but he was absolutely flying late. He’s clearly improving and the Wood was a better race than the public gives it credit for. He is very dangerous today with Irad taking the mount in the feature dirt race at Aqueduct.

#6 Antiquarian (6/1) – This gelding broke thru the gate prior to the start of the Louisiana Derby. That ruins your chances 99% of the time and the Conductor was impressed he still ran well. He pressed a decent pace while wide and was only beaten 4 lengths. Now shortening in distance he looks to get an ideal trip here, pressing a slow pace. He’s moving in the right direction and should take a big jump up today.

Race 7: 1 3/8 Mile. (Turf) G2 Man o’ War Stakes

*Gullet Shot of the Day #6 Greek Order (15/1) – The Conductor sees #9 Nation’s Pride (8/5) winning this race and will pair him up with Greek Order underneath. Greek Order showed real quality in Europe, never missing the board over multiple distances and surfaces. He was bet to favoritism in his US debut in an allowance race at Keeneland last month. He ran evenly after a poor start that day, in a race controlled by the frontrunners. Greek Order will step forward with that race under his belt and the Conductor likes the added distance for him here. A 9/6 exacta here will make it a great Saturday.

Belmont Park Saturday Picks — May 13, 2023 | Peter Pan Stakes Day Best Bets

Keeneland Picks

Boom. Lady of Thoroton at 11/1 and Reflexivity at 6/1 down Belmont’s throat latch Friday.

Belmont

We needed a big day and got it. The Conductor is rearing to go Saturday…and then he saw the card. There are only a handful of quality races. The Peter Pan is a great race, but other than that this card stinks for a Saturday. Whatever, we’ll make do. Let’s Ride

Race 5: 1 3/8 Mile. (Inner Turf) G1 Man o’ War Stakes

#2 Warren Point (9/5) – The Conductor hates chalk, but this looks like easy pickings for Godolphin and Appleby. This is a very weak American group for a Grade 1. The rich get richer.

Race 6: 1 1/8 Mile. G3 Peter Pan Stakes

*Gullet Shot of the Day #1 Arcangelo (10/1) – This colt is steadily progressing and and his maiden breaker last time caught the Conductor’s eye. He didn’t have the best dirt trip and blew by the heavy favorite with ease. He’s a little goofy and has a ton of upside. He should have beaten Louisiana Derby winner Kingsbarn two back with a cleaner trip as well. If Pletcher or Chad were his trainer, he’d be 4/1. The Conductor will happily take his inflated odds at Belmont.

Race 8: 6 Furlongs. (Inner Turf) S.Alw 80000n1x

#7 Twenty Six Black (4/1) – This is a wide open allowance race and you could make a case for many. The one horse in this field that could romp is this colt. He was loaded behind horses until the thee final 1/8th of a mile and still got the job done. He won by a neck, but his gallop out was thunderous.

Race 10: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) F.OC 62500n1x

#10 Juniper’s Mood (8/1) – There are some salty fillies in this race, but this is the one price the Conductor finds interesting. She was very rank early in the Florida Oaks and spent the first turn fighting Paco. She wasted a ton of energy early and the Conductor was shocked she held on for 3rd. The Conductor likes the rider switch to Castellano today and this filly has upside.

Belmont Park: Key Horses for Saturday, May 8

Horses racing at Belmont Park with jockeys in colorful silks during a race event.

The Conductor loves this card at Belmont Park. Let’s hurt them today. Skip!

Race 4: 6 Furlongs. G3 Runhappy Stakes

#4 Firenze Fire (4/5) – They’re not beating him over the Belmont surface.

Race 5: 6 Furlongs. (Turf) S.Mdn 75k

#3 Danzigwiththestars (10/1) – He ran some very solid races last year and has been gelded since. Adding blinkers and lasix for the 1st time, he’s working well entering today. A step forward from last year can put him in the winner’s circle.

#12 Noble Journey (10/1) – Another 1st time gelding adding lasix, this colt’s workouts caught the Conductor’s eye as well. Cutting back to a sprint today, he ran well routing in his last try and was favored at the windows.

Race 6: 1 1/16 Mile. (Inner Turf) F.G3 Beaugay Stakes

#1 Harvey’s Lil Goil (8/5) – Making her first start as a 4-year-old, this filly is nails. Natural maturity will make her tough to beat.

Race 7: 6½ Furlongs. F.G3 Vagrancy H.

#3 Victim of Love (4/1) – Her 3rd in the Ballerina last summer was the best race this field has to offer. She got a prep under her belt last time and looks primed for her best today. She should sit a favorable trip, up close to a moderate pace.

Race 8: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) F.Mdn 90k

*Gullet Shot of the Day #10 Bonkers (12/1) – Heavily bet at Belmont Park last time making her first start for Maker, she ran well with a tough trip. Going longer 2nd off the layoff as a 4-year-old, she can upset this highly competitive field.

Belmont Park

Race 9: 1 1/8 Mile. G3 Peter Pan Stakes

#4 Wolfie’s Dynaghost (9/2) – This colt won his debut last year in a key race for a barn that never wins 1st out. That’s a sign of a very talented runner and has been a very profitable angle for the Conductor.

Race 10: 1 3/8 Mile. (Inner Turf) G1 Man o’ War Stakes

#8 Gufo (2/1) – The Conductor can’t get away from this colt. Making his first start as a 4-year-old, he’s yet to run a bad race and has a thunderous late punch.

Race 11: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) F.Mdn 90k

#7 Before You (12/1) – Stretching out and trying grass for the first time, she’s been well bet in both her sprint races. Working bullets over this Belmont Park surface and getting a rider upgrade to Rosario, she’s very interesting.

Esophagus Slice Saturday: The Conductor’s Plays at Belmont Park

A man in racing attire seated on a shiny black horse, both posed for a photograph.

Belmont has completely baffled the Conductor the last two days. Hell of a card today, it would be a great time for the Conductor to get hot. Let’s Ride.

Race 1: 6½ Furlongs. F.G3 Vagrancy H.

#4 Separationofpowers (7/5) – This filly looks like a cinch to start the card.

Race 2: 1 Mile. Mdn 80k

#6 Principled (5/2) – Heavily bet at Saratoga last summer and drawn well to the outside, this colt has talent.

Race 3: 6 Furlongs. (Inner Turf) F.Alw 82000n1x

#2 Miss Mystique (6/1) – They layoff and low % trainer should keep her price high, she’s run well of breaks before and hast the best turf figures in the field.

Race 4: 1 1/8 Mile. G3 Peter Pan Stakes

*Never a Doubt Saturday Lock of the Day #3 Global Campaign (8/5) – The Florida Derby has come back very live and he moved into the teeth of the hot pace in there. He’s going to win for fun today.

Belmont

Race 5: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) MC 40000

#2 Whiskey Is My Wine (8/1) – Whiskey is the Conductor’s water.

Race 6: 7 Furlongs. Clm 50000

#4 Felix in Fabula (7/5) – He looks extremely tough to beat at Belmont on the cutback.

Race 7: 1 1/16 Mile. (Inner Turf) F. G3 Beaugay Stakes

#1 Chipolata (4/1) – She ran well to close into a slow pace and get the job done last start. She has back class and looks poised to run her best 2nd off the layoff.

Race 8: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) F.Mdn 80k

#4 Structural Deficit (5/1) – A well-bred Chad Brown filly is going to be 2nd choice? The Conductor will take her.

Race 9: 6 Furlongs. 150K Runhappy Stakes

#3 Firenze Fire (7/2) – 2nd off the layoff, he looks to get a perfect stalking trip, tracking a fast pace.

Race 10: 1 3/8 Mile. (Inner Turf) G1 Man O’ War Stakes

*Gullet Shot of the Day #1 Hunting Horn (10/1) – He’s caught a yielding course and has legitimate excuses in most of his North American races.  He fits with this group and the Conductor will key him in the trifecta at a nice number.

Belmont

Race 11: 6 Furlongs. (Turf) F.Mdn 62k

#4 Electronic (3/1) – She acted up at the gate and still ran a good 4th, closing into a slow pace in her debut. She’ll take a step forward today.
