The Conductor’s Wednesday Preview at Saratoga

Horses and jockeys racing at the Saratoga Race Course with starting gates in view.

Scattered thunderstorms forecast for tomorrow, so the Conductor will adjust accordingly if the races are taken off the turf. The Conductor is still hurting after being knocked out of the pick 6 in the last leg on Sunday. He keeps putting himself in position to KO Saratoga, but it keeps escaping from his grasp. Only two weeks left to get its gullet, its Travers week baby. Let’s Ride.

Race 1: Hurdle Race

Race 2: 1 1/8 Mile. F.OC 25000n1x

#1 South of the Shore (8/5) – 2nd behind Dunbar Road who came back to win the Alabama on Saturday. 8/5 in a 5 horse field would not be a bad price.

Race 3: 5 ½ Furlongs. MC 75000

#4 Rejected Again (2/1) – He’s most likely, the Conductor doesn’t have a strong opinion in here.

Race 4: 1 5/8 Mile. (Turf) John Call Stakes 100k

#6 Nakamura (4/1) – The Conductor’s best opinion on Saturday when she won at 5/1, the Conductor wishes more horses returned to the races this quickly when they are feeling good.

Race 5: 5 ½ Furlongs. F.S.Mdn 78k

#2 Sophie Rules (9/2) – This filly is working well and the Jose Ortiz/Englehart jockey/trainer combo have been red hot this meet.

Race 6: 1 1/16 Mile. (Inner Turf) Mdn 75k

#3 Justintimeforwine (15/1) – Stretching out to a route on turf for the first time, she could drastically improve. She was favorited sprinting on dirt at Saratoga two starts back, which tells the Conductor she has more talent than she’s shown. At a bomb the Conductor will key her in the exacta and trifecta.

Race 7: 7 Furlongs. Clm 20000n3L

*Gullet Shot of the Day #2 Autostrade (6/1) – Switching back to dirt and cutting back to a sprint, he made an early move into a hot pace last time at Saratoga. The Conductor loves him here.

Saratoga

Race 8: 5 ½ Furlongs. (Turf) F.Clm 50000b

#8 Morisette (8/1) – Dropping back to the claiming ranks today, she was favored against much tougher last time and had trouble at the break. With a clean break, she’ll have every chance.

Race 9: 6 Furlongs. S.Alw 80000n1x

#3 Our Last Buck (8/1) – Switching back to dirt and dropping out of open company, his race two back at Aqueduct would be tough for this field to beat. 2nd off the layoff, he’ll be ready to roll.

Race 10: 5 ½ Furlongs. (Turf) F.Clm 40000n2L

#6 Zandora (5/1) – 1st off the claim and switching to turf, her early pace figures give her an advantage over this field.

Empire 6 Mandatory Payout Preview at Saratoga

Horses and jockeys racing from the starting gate at Saratoga Turf Course during a horse race.

The Conductor is reeling. Every time he starts to build momentum, he gets booted in the face by the pony gods. So many over bet horses winning, so many strange results, Saratoga is a fickle beast. Times are tough and the Conductor doesn’t want to get out of bed this morning. Does he quit and go sit in the back of the train? Or does he throttle it and take down the mandatory payout Empire 6? We all know the answer to that, and that’s why we hopped aboard this train. Let’s Ride.

Race 5: 5½ Furlongs. F.MC 75000

Use: 1,3,4,5,7,8

Race 6: 6½ Furlongs. F.Mdn 90k

*#6 Mrs. Danvers (8/5) – This girl is the one to beat and most of the Conductor’s play will go through her. She missed the break, rushed up, and still finished a good 3rd in her debut.

Backups: 1,7

Race 7: 5½ Furlongs. (OFF Turf) Clm 25000

Use: 2,3,6,8,9,10

Race 8: 1 Mile. (OFF Turf) F.Alw 50000s

Use: 2,4,5,8,9,10,11,12,13

Race 9: 1 1/8 Mile. F.100K Summer Colony Stakes

*Never a Doubt Sunday Scaries Preventer Lock of the Sequence #7 Blue Prize (4/5) – This hard-knocking mare gets class relief today and is the most likely winner in the sequence. She’s run admirably in her last two starts at Saratoga behind Elate, the best female dirt horse in the country.

Saratoga

*Lone Backup #4 Vexactious (6/1) – If your looking for a price, the Conductor likes this mare switching from turf to dirt. She’s faced stiffer competition on the lawn and has a win on dirt in her career. She’s posting bullet works and Rosario hops in the irons.

Race 10: 1 1/16 Mile. (OFF Turf) F.Clm 30000n2L

Use: 2,5,11

Race 8: 5 ½ Furlongs. (Turf) Smart and Fancy Stakes

#5 Morticia (1/1) – She’s a cut above this group. The Conductor likes #8 Broadway Run (9/2) to run 2nd in the exacta.

Race 9: 1 1/16 Mile. (Inner Turf) F.G2 Lake Placid Stakes

#7 Wildlife (10/1) – This isn’t the strongest field the Conductor has ever seen and she’s shown a thunderous late kick in her last two victories. She’s stepping up in class, but the Conductor sees her hitting the board and spicing up the exacta and trifecta.

Race 10: 1 1/4 Mile. F. G1 Alabama Stakes

*Gullet Shot of the Day #2 Lady Apple (6/1) – The Conductor loves her in this spot. Winner of 4 of her last 5, she’s steadily progressing and looks to get a great trip, up close to a moderate pace.

#6 Take Me to Hardoon (5/1) – She’s working well off the layoff and Englehart thought highly enough of her to put her in G1 company following her debut. The Conductor loves her at a decent price in the finale.

Sabbath Sunday: The Conductor’s Prayers at Saratoga

Large crowd gathered at Saratoga Race Course with horses and jockeys preparing for a race.

Yesterday was fun. Except when the Conductor 3 putted from two feet on the 36th hole to lose the match. To be fair, 36 holes and an exuberant amount of stews means it was completely unsanctioned and will be stricken from the record. Saratoga time, Let’s Ride.

Race 2: 6 Furlongs. S.Mdn 78k

Throat Shot Thursday: The Conductor’s Plays at Saratoga

A diverse crowd of people gathered at an outdoor event, leaning against a fence, showcasing excitement and anticipation.

We hit that first exacta nicely yesterday, then we faded down the stretch. We got lucky with the rain holding off and we have a similar scenario today with a weather guessing game. The Conductor capped for on the turf at Saratoga and if the later half gets taken off, then you passengers are on your own. Do something yourselves for once, Let’s Ride.

Race 1: 1 1/8 Mile. F.Alw 14000s

#5 Colorincolonel (6/1) – Shipping in from Laurel, she ran a huge late pace figure in her last start, closing into a moderate pace. She’s trending in the right direction and the added distance won’t be a problem.

Race 2: 6 Furlongs. F.S.Clm 25000

*Underneath Upper Cut of the Day #5 Moondance Joy (8/1) – With the favorites coming off layoffs in here, the Conductor will look to key this mare, who is in good form. She’s stepping up in class, but trainer Orlando Noda has been successful bumping horses up this year. She may not be good enough to win, but the Conductor sees her hitting the board.

saratoga

Race 3: 1 1/16 Mile. (Inner Turf) Clm 50000n2L
