Saratoga Saturday Picks & Best Bets — August 16, 2025 | Full Card Analysis

Several horses racing on a dirt track with jockeys in colorful uniforms during a horse racing event.

Another good Saturday for the Conductor last week, going 2/3 with 4/1 and 5/1 winners. August has been kind to the passengers. Thank you Mr. Conductor, your generosity and genius knows no bounds. Keep pounding. Skip.

Race 5: 1 3/8 Mile. (Inner Turf) OC 50000n1x

#5 Il Siciliano (4/1) – This colt ran huge last time, making an early wide move and was game to the wire. He’s overcome terrible turf trips multiple times this year to run 2nd at big odds. He’s the only horse in the field that loves this distance and the Conductor thinks this is a weak bunch. Il Sicilliano finally gets his picture taken today. 3/1 or better is fair.

Race 10: 1 1/4 Mile. F.Alabama G1 Alabama Stakes

#1 Margie’s Intention (8/1) – The Conductor doesn’t like any of the favorites in here, so he’s going to take a shot with the “other” Cox runner. She’s improved since moving into the Cox barn and ran better than it looks last time with a wide trip into a slow pace. She ran the best late pace figure in the field and will appreciate the added distance, unlike most of the contenders. Saving all the ground with a rail trip, the Conductor will key her in the feature.

Race 11: 1 1/16 Mile. (Inner Turf) Clm 35000n2L

#7 Landman Friday (6/1) – This colt ran well vs tougher off the bench last time. He has the strongest late pace figures in the field, and this race should have an honest pace. He’ll appreciate the added distance today and should improve 2nd off a layoff.

Saratoga & Colonial Downs Picks — Saturday Best Bets, August 9, 2025

A group of racehorses with jockeys in colorful silks competing on a racetrack during sunset.

Two solid winners last Saturday at Saratoga. The passengers are begging the Conductor for more picks. You’ll get what he serves on a platter for free and you’ll like it. Skip.

Saratoga Race 10: 1½ Mile. (Inner Turf) G1 Resorts World Casino Sword Dancer Stakes

#1 El Cordobes (4/1) – The “other” Appleby in the feature race. This gelding has been steadily progressing across the pond and is in good form. He gets an ideal rail draw with Prat aboard and this is a weak Grade 1. His two main rivals are #5 Nations Pride (3/1), who’s best days are behind him, and #6 Far Bridge (9/5), who has Rosario aboard with an outside post. El Cordobes is the Conductor’s best bet on the Saratoga card.

Colonial Downs Race 7: 5½ Furlongs. (Inner Turf) F. Andy Guest Stakes

#8 Cart Girl Sam (8/1) – This filly overcame a terrible turf trip and ride by Leparoux last time to still one nicely. She has real talent and upside. With a new rider aboard, the Conductor sees her firing a career best race today.

Race 11: 1 1/4 Mile. (Outer Turf) G1 Arlington Million Stakes

#6 Fort Washington (4/1) – This is another weak Grade 1 field, with #8 Integration (8/5) as the heavy favorite. The Conductor sees this race having a quick pace for this distance, so Fort Washington should sit a nice trip. He’s a dead closer, but has the strongest late pace figures in the field and has taken a step forward this year. He had no chance last time behind a tepid pace.

Saratoga Whitney Stakes Day Picks — Saturday, August 2, 2025 | Full Card Analysis

A group of thoroughbred horses racing on a grassy track with spectators in the background.

By far the best card of the Saratoga meet thus far. Add in beautiful weather and fast turf and we have ourselves one hell of a Saturday. Let’s Ride.

Race 7: Furlongs. OC 75000n2x

#1 Hold My Bourbon (10/1) – This is the first of two Saffie Joseph runners the Conductor likes today. In his first start for the barn last time, Hold My Bourbon chased a wicked pace going two turns. He did well to hang on to 2nd and now looks primed for the cutback in distance. The rail is usually where you want to be on a fast dirt track at Saratoga, and he should get a nice pocket trip. Let’s get the Conductor’s bourbon started nice and early.

Race 11: 1 1/8 Mile. G1 Whitney Stakes

#7 White Abarrio (4/1) – This is a great race with three formidable horses. The Conductor likes White Abarrio at anything over 3/1. If you throw out the Met on a sloppy track, Saffie has him back to his old self. His Pacific Classic this year was dominant and his best can certainly beat the favorites. Fierceness (9/5) will be up close to a hot pace in this one, and White Abarrio should be able to sit a perfect trip and pounce. With a well timed ride by Irad, he’ll get the jump on #5 Sierra Leone (2/1) and cash for the passengers.

Race 12: 5½ Furlongs. (Turf) F.Alw 110000n1x

#4 Upon a Star (8/1) – This filly ran solid numbers on dirt last year and returned off the bench to win nicely in the slop. Now 2nd off the layoff, she finally switches to turf, the surface she’s bred for. She has major upside with the surface switch and making her 2nd start as a 4-year-old. Upon a star is going to fire a career best effort.

#5 She’s Got Will (10/1) – A wild card horse entering off a long layoff, this filly has talent. She won her debut routing over this Saratoga turf course and ran well last year in all three starts. She tries sprinting today for the first time and the Conductor thinks this is a mediocre bunch. She’s Got Will can pull an upset.

Saratoga: Best Bets and Analysis for Sunday 7/27/2025

A racehorse with a jockey wearing a green and yellow uniform racing on a track during a horse race.

Baeza and Reigning Flowers ran big Saturday, just not quite good enough to get their picture taken. The Conductor has 2nd and 3rd itus this meet. Off the turf today is disappointing, but at least the Glenn Falls stayed in tact. Let’s end the weekend strong. Skip.

Race 6: 7 Furlongs. S.Mdn 90k

#7 Mission Hill (15/1) – This gelding had a no chance trip on turf last time, hung wide chasing a quick pace. His best race last year came over the Saratoga dirt and he finally gets back to it today. The Conductor thinks he’ll like the cutback in distance, and his last race off a year layoff sets him up nicely. Mission Hill is the longshot the passengers need today.

Race 7: 1½ Mile. (Inner Turf) F.G2 Glens Falls Stakes

#5 Long Ago (4/1) – This mare ran well last time, moving early into a quick pace and fighting to the wire. There is absolutely no early speed in this weak Grade 2 field, and she’ll be able to control the tempo on the front end. The Conductor sees her stealing the feature on the front end.

Saratoga: Best Bets and Analysis for Saturday 7/26/25

A group of thoroughbred horses racing at Saratoga with jockeys in colorful silks.

You passengers hammered the Conductor’s winner last Sunday. Very disappointing cards this week at Saratoga had the Conductor sitting on his hands. He’s ready to fire today on a very enticing Jim Dandy Card. Let’s Ride.

Race 9: 1 1/16 Mile. (Inner Turf) F.G3 Lake George Stakes

#1 Reigning Flowers (15/1) – The Conductor thinks this race is wide open, and ripe for a price. The favorite, Classic Q (2/1), hasn’t won going further than a mile and will face more pace pressure today. Reigning Flowers kept good company last year and looks ready to fire a peak effort. Her two races this year have been rained off the turf, and over a yielding turf course. Third off the layoff and getting back to her best surface and distance, she fits with this group. Reigning Flowers has the best late pace figures in the field and will get a ground saving trip. Bombs away in the Lake George Stakes.

Race 10: 1 1/8 Mile. G2 Jim Dandy Stakes

#1 Baeza (3/1) – The Conductor is going to give Baeza on more shot against Sovereignty (2/5). Sovereignty trounced him in the Belmont, but the Conductor has no idea why Baeza was so far back in that race. He has much more early speed and needs to use it to his advantage. Now with a nice rail draw, a shorter distance, and Berrios aboard, the Conductor thinks this is his spot. Sovereignty is a monster, but this isn’t a race he needs to win, and it’s shorter than his best distance. Baeza will have first run on the lone speed, #4 Mo Plex (10/1), and the Conductor thinks he shows his true talent today.

Saratoga: Best Bets and Analysis for Sunday 7/20/2025

A racehorse with a jockey in colorful silks racing at a horse racing event.

3rds on Saturday aren’t going to pay bills. A frustrating weekend so far for the Conductor. However, as long as you wake up in the morning, you have another chance to fire away. Let’s have a great Sunday at Saratoga. Skip.

Race 3: 1 1/8 Mile. (Inner Turf) Alw 110000n1x

#3 Then (7/2) – The Chad Brown entry will be over bet in this race. The Conductor has been waiting for this colt to return after his last effort at Keeneland in the spring. He was well back behind a slow pace and showed a strong kick against the frontrunner flow. Then gets a nice post and Irad in the saddle today as well.

Race 4: 6½ Furlongs. Clm 30000n3L

#1 Kigali (8/1) – The Conductor is skeptical of the heavy favorite, #6 Eliminate (7/5), taking a massive class drop today. Kigali had a terrible trip on turf last time, but ran a good 2nd sprinting on the dirt two back. Now switching back to dirt, the Conductor sees him getting a nice rail pocket trip. In a race that is wide open if you toss Elimanate, Kigali has a big shot at a square price.

Saratoga: Best Bets and Analysis for Saturday 7/19/2025

A group of racehorses with jockeys in colorful silks competing on a racetrack during a horse race.

Two duds Friday at Saratoga for the Conductor. No excuses, just get back in the drivers seat an make Saratoga pay today. Skip.

Race 9: 5½ Furlongs. (Turf) F. G3 Caress Stakes

#8 Time to Dazzle (8/1) – This filly has sneakily improved sprinting on the turf this year. Last time she ran much just as well as the runners that beat her, despite finishing 4th. She was well back behind a slow pace and was wide the entire way. The Conductor was impressed with how she finished that race and thinks she can turn the tables on the favorites in here with a better trip. Time to Dazzle draws an outside post today, but will get a more favorable pace setup with a better turf pilot aboard.

Race 12: 7 Furlongs. Alw 110000n1x

#3 Vekoma Rides (10/1) – This colt showed real talent in his debut last year. He ran a good 3rd last time off the bench and should take a big step forward today. He adds blinkers and looks to get an ideal inside pocket trip over this Saratoga dirt course. Making his 2nd start as a 3-year-old, Vekoma Rides has major upside.

Bonus: Monmouth Race 13: 1 1/8 Mile. Haskell G1 NYRA Bets Haskell Stakes

#8 Goal Oriented (4/1) – This colt disappointed in the Preakness, but that was a tough ask off just two weeks rest in only his third career start. Baffert has handled this horse like he’s the goods and he looked like it in his first two starts. He’s been working his eyeballs out since the Preakness and should get a perfect trip today with Prat aboard. He’ll sit just behind a contested pace and get first run on the closers. He’s the only horse in the field the Conductor sees upsetting the overwhelming favorite #2 Journalism (4/5).

Saratoga: Best Bets and Analysis for Friday 7/18/2025

A group of racehorses with jockeys competing on a green racetrack in front of a large crowd.

We’re actually on the turf this week at Saratoga. Looks like the Saturday’s card should be in tact too. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves and fill our pockets with coal before the weekend. The Conductor likes two horses quite a bit. Skip.

Race 4: 1 3/8 Mile. (Inner Turf) F.Mdn 100k

#7 Pemaquid (9/2) – This filly ran better than it looks in her debut at Keeneland. Rosario gave her a caboose ride, and made early 4/5wide move on the turn. She did well to sustain her bid, and the Conductor sees her appreciating the added distance here. Pemaquid gets a major turf rider upgrade to Dylan Davis today as well.

Race 5: 5½ Furlongs. (Turf) F.S.Mdn 90k

#1 Saratoga Snow (8/1) – This filly ran way better than her running line last time. It was her first start of the the year and her first start sprinting on turf. She was traveling nicely and got completely taken up avoiding danger on the turn. She should have run DFL, but still finished with interest. Now 2nd off the bench, adding blinkers and drawing the rail, Saratoga Snow should fire big effort.

Saratoga: Best Bets and Analysis for Sunday 7/13/2025

Four thoroughbred horses racing on a dirt track with jockeys in colorful uniforms.

She Feels Pretty disappointed Saturday and the weather continues to put a damper on the start of the meet. Another off the turf day today, other than the lone stakes race. The rail has been golden on the dirt and the Conductor will bet that theme continues. Let’s head into next week with some coal. Skip.

Race 5: 6 Furlongs. Clm 25000

#1 Paxsational (5/2) – This horse ran well with a wide trip from the outside post last time. That was against a much tougher group and now he draws the inside. Second off the claim for Cox, the Conductor sees him bossing this field. He should be favored and will be the 2nd choice in the betting.

Race 7: 1 Mile. (OFF Turf) S.Alw 95000n1x

#1 Li’l Lang (6/1) – This is a wide open NY bred race taken off the turf. This colt has been running solid efforts on turf and now gets back to dirt, where he’s run his best races. He’ll get a good trip with Prat aboard and a nice rail draw. This distance is a question, but he should be a fair price and inside speed has done very well so far.

Race 9: 5½ Furlongs. (Turf) G3 Quick Call Stakes

#1 Jet Sweep Joe (8/1) – This race should have a very quick early pace and this ridgling will have a strong late punch. He looks to get a perfect rail pocket trip and Ben Curtis is a capable turf rider. 1’s are wild for the Conductor on this Sunday.

Saratoga: Best Bets and Analysis for Saturday 7/12/2025

A racehorse with a jockey in a racing saddle competing on a dirt track during a horse racing event.

A nice 4/1 winner Thursday to kick off the Saratoga meet. Rain and scratches ruined yesterdays card, and only two stakes races remain on the turf today. Saratoga is already making the Conductor angry. Alas, there are still opportunities out there. Let’s Ride.

Race 8: 1 3/8 Mile. (Inner Turf) G2 Bowling Green Stakes

#2 El Razeen (8/1) – The Conductor is going to play against the heavy favorite #7 Far Bridge (6/5). He’s a bit overrated and will likely get a tough trip with Rosario aboard and an outside post. El Rezeen ran big off the bench last time at Keeneland. He chased a quick pace while wide and still hung on for 2nd. Now 2nd off the layoff, he stretches out to his best distance and he’s improving.

#5 Webslinger (7/2) – The Conductor is a sucker for this horse, so he’ll have to use him a bit. Castellano and and poor trips have cost him multiple graded stakes in the past (and the Conductor’s wallet). Webslinger has the best late pace figures in the field and looks ready fire in his 2nd start this year.

Race 11: 1 3/8 Mile. (Inner Turf) F.G1 Dunkin’ Diana Stakes

#1 She Feel Pretty (1/1) – The Conductor hates chalk, but doesn’t see this filly losing today. She’s a cut above this field and should boss them around. The Conductor was intrigued with #6 Be Your Best (6/1) as the lone speed, but not after the rain on the turf course.
