Keeneland: Key Horses for Saturday, October 9

Horses and jockeys lined up at the starting gate at Keeneland Racecourse during a race.

Inside speed dominated opening day on dirt as it often does at Keeneland, so pay attention early today. Beautiful card with salty stakes. Keep your head on a swivel and strike when Keeneland drops it’s gloves. Skip.

Keeneland Race 6: 5½ Furlongs. (Turf) G2 Woodford Stakes

#3 Inhalation (30/1) – The Ductor is against Golden Pal, who will likely be 2/5 in this spot. He’s returning from a clunker across the pond and isn’t much faster than the field. This gelding is taking a big step up in class, but he is improving and has talent. He could not have won easier last time after missing the break then circling the field without being asked. The Ductor likes #7 County Final (5/1) here as well.

Race 7: 6 Furlongs. F.G2 Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes

#4 Estilo Talentoso (5/2) – She’s been running well against the best competition and lost all chance after a poor start last time. She dead heated for 2nd with the heavy favorite #7 Bell’s the One in the Madison this spring and she’ll be 3x the price at least.

Race 8: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.G1 First Lady Stakes

#10 Princess Grace (6/1) – This is a very competitive field and there are many ways you can go. This filly continues to win no matter where she runs and now steps up to face the big girls. She has enough early speed to put herself in good position going into the first turn and the Ductor thinks she may go off higher than the morning line. The other top contenders are #3 Altiqua (7/2) and #9 Blowout (8/1).

Race 9: 1 1/16 Mile. G1 Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity

*Gullet Shot of the Day #7 American Sanctuary (12/1) – This colt rolled by his competition in his first race stretching out last time and then completely lost focus in the stretch. He thought the race was over and then re-rallied when he was passed late. With more experience and the whip today, the Ductor thinks he is very dangerous.

Race 10: 1 Mile. (Turf) G1 Keeneland Turf Mile Stakes

#4 Space Traveller (6/1) – He’s run well in his two starts in America, including a very good 2nd last time against the race flow. He beat Raging Bull, who would be a favorite in here and he looks to get a good trip today, drawn to the inside.

Keeneland: Key Horses for Saturday, October 3

A large crowd gathered at a spring horse racing event with people and horses on a grassy area.

That would be the Conductor’s last winner yesterday, despicable. Great card again today and the Conductor will be firing away at both Pimlico and Keeneland. The anticipation mounts.

Race 6: 5½ Furlongs. (Turf) G2 Woodford Stakes

#4 Just Might (5/1) – This gelding should have no problem getting a solo lead based on his early pace figures. 2nd off the layoff, improving and his 3rd last race was flattered by Diamond Oops yesterday. There is a lot to like.

Race 7: 6 Furlongs. F.G2 Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes

#2 Dos Vinos (7/2) – The pace looks to be hot in this one and the Conductor sees this filly getting a perfect trip. She should be able to get first run sitting just behind the dueling frontrunners

Race 8: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.G1 First Lady Stakes

#4 Newspaperofrecord (8/5)#1 Beau Recall (2/1) beat her last time, but the Conductor sees her turning the tables here. There is no other speed in this race and she can dictate the terms on the front end. The Conductor also thinks #5 Uni (5/2) has lost a step.

Race 9: 1 1/16 Mile. G1 Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity

#9 King Fury (12/1) – This 950k son of Curlin won his debut at two turns, which is very difficult to do. He also had a 4wide trip around both turns. He’s the only horse in the field proven at this distance and there is no telling how much he can improve today at Keeneland.

Race 10: 1 Mile. (Turf) G1 Shadwell Turf Mile Stakes

*Gullet Shot of the Day #8 Analyze It (9/2) – Coming back from a two-year layoff last time, he easily beat a Grade 3 field. Chad Brown puts him right back into Grade 1 company today and the Conductor has seen this move 1000 times before. When Chad’s aggressive with horses off long breaks, they’re live.

Esophagus Slice Saturday: The Conductor’s Plays at Keeneland

A large crowd gathered at a horse racing event, with spectators enjoying the races and horses on the track under a blue sky.

The Conductor couldn’t see the ball at Keeneland on opening day, but he learned a few things with his scars. Its a great Saturday of racing ahead of us. The Conductor loves the card, prices everywhere. Let’s Ride.

Race 1: 6 Furlongs. F.Mdn 71k

#6 Miss Imperfection (15/1) – This filly’s work tab screams to the Conductor that she’s ready to roll and her sire wins at a 16% clip with 1st time starters. Trainer Kellyn Gorder has a positive ROI this year with debut runners as well.

Race 2: 1 Mile. F.OC 80000b

#6 Whoa Nellie (4/1) – This filly looks to get a perfect trip, stalking a hot pace and swooping on the turn.

Race 3: 1 1/16 Mile. OC 62500n2x

#6 Major Cabbie (10/1) – Throw out his last race on turf, his two dirt efforts in the Miller barn give him every chance. He’s working well leading up to this one.

Race 4: 1 1/16 Mile. Mdn 71k

#3 Portos (4/1) – This colt closed into a tepid pace and ran a huge late pace figure in his debut. The Conductor would love 4/1.

Race 5: 7 Furlongs. OC 75000n2L

#7 Peruvian Boy (8/1) – He’s faced the toughest competition in the field and the Conductor sees him in a great spot when they turn from home. His works suggest he’s on the improve.

Race 6: 5½ Furlongs. (Turf) G2 Woodford Stakes

#3 Imprimis (2/1) – With a clean trip he towers over this field.

Race 7: 6 Furlongs. F.G2 Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes

#4 Danuska’s My Girl (6/1) – West coast shippers are always dangerous in dirt sprints at Keeneland. This girl is also steadily progressing and has a major chance to wire this field.

Race 8: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.G1 First Lady Stakes

#7 Indian Blessing (12/1) – There is an abundance of pace signed on in here and this mare looks to get a nice setup. She’s hit the board in every start in America and the Conductor will key her in the exacta and trifecta. The Conductor certainly sees #4 Uni (4/1) as the likeliest winner.

Race 9: 1 1/16 Mile. G1 Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity

#5 Enforceable (15/1) #1 Tap It To Win (3/1) is the one to beat, but this colt will be the Conductor’s key to the race. Additionally, he’s the only one proven he can go this far and will be closing late with a hot pace in front of him.

Race 10: 1 Mile. (Turf) G1 Shadwell Turf Mile Stakes

*Gullet Shot of the Day #8 Vintager (10/1) – The Conductor isn’t impressed with the American contingent. Obviously Chad Brown can’t be ignored with #4 Valid Point (5/1), but he’s going to take a swing with this European shipper. He’s in good form and trainer Charles Appleby has also had success in America.

Race 11: 6 Furlongs. F.Mdn 71k

#5 Further Lane (4/1) – She’s certainly working like she’s a good one at Keeneland for top connections.
