Race 4: 1 1/8 Mile. F.G1 Coaching Club American Oaks

#5 Point of Honor (7/2) – Her win last time in the Black-Eyed Susan was legit, closing into a slow pace. She’s proven at the distance while the heavy favorite #1 Guarana (2/5) isn’t. Guarana looks like a super filly, but the Conductor is a skeptical man.

Race 5: 1 1/8 Mile. Mdn 90k

*Never a Doubt Best Bet of the Day #4 Scars Are Cool (6/1) – Favored at Churchill last time, he ran well closing into a slow pace. The added distance will be his friend.

Saratoga

#1 She’s a Julie (2/1) – 3rd off the layoff, she’s in good form at Saratoga and #5 Wow Cat (9/5) is coming in off the bench. She’s also exiting the toughest last race in the field having faced Elate last time.

The Conductor’s Haskell Day Plays at Monmouth Park

Jockey riding a brown thoroughbred horse during a training session on a racetrack.

The heat has canceled racing at Saratoga and the Conductor should probably never play there again anyway. What a loser. Haskell day at Monmouth is always a great racing day anyway. Will Maximum Security strut his stuff? The Conductor sees him getting taken down again. Let’s drink some ice cold stew and make some money. Let’s Ride.

haskell

Race 11: 1 1/8 Mile. (Turf) F.G3 WinStar Matchmaker Stakes

Horses racing on a muddy track at Saratoga Race Course with spectators in the background.

Throat Shot Thursday: The Conductor’s Plays at Saratoga

Horses and jockeys at the starting gate of a race at Saratoga Race Course.

The rain came and off the turf made Saratoga unplayable yesterday. The forecast says its going to hold off today, so the Conductor capped as such. If the races come off, the Conductor won’t play with the small fields (He probably still will). Spot Play of the Day

Race 7: Daily Double 2,3 / 3,8

The Conductor’s Opening Day Plays at Saratoga

Horses and jockeys at the starting gate of a race at Saratoga Race Course.

With Saratoga opening tomorrow, the Conductor will keep the train in the station and give you passengers some time to prepare. He’ll give you some specific plays tomorrow, but he’s already done the heavy lifting.  It’s an absolute handicapping battle with these cards. Full fields and all connections pointing their horses for a win at the Spa. The Conductor will be sure to press when he’s up and chase when he’s down. May the Pony Gods bless us this meet, Let’s Ride.

Race 1: 1 3/16 Mile. Clm 14000n3L

*Never a Doubt Best Bet of the Day #7 The Rock Says (4/1) – This colt has faced full fields and pressed hot paces in every start. He’s improving, and the Conductor is going to look to shippers on dirt early in the Saratoga meet with how weak the Belmont fields were.

Race 9: 5 ½ Furlongs. (Turf) G3 Quick Call Stakes

#10 Sombeyay (6/1) – 3rd off the layoff, he showed talent on dirt as a 2-year-old and also has a little turf in his pedigree. He’s been working well on turf, so the Conductor will trust Pletcher.

#5 Darling of the Spa (6/1) – With that name debuting on opening day at Saratoga for Chad Brown? She was only 10k at the Keeneland sale so running for a tag doesn’t scare the Conductor.

The Conductor’s Belmont Derby Day Plays

A group of jockeys in colorful silks riding horses during a race on a grassy track.

A great late half of the card at Belmont on this fine Saturday. If the Conductor spends more time in the sun this weekend he’s going to be a part of the leather skin club.
