Laurel Park: Key Horses for Saturday, February 20

Horses racing at Laurel Park with jockeys in colorful silks on a dirt track.

Solid Friday at Gulfstream to stop the bleeding this week. The Conductor is going to switch it up and head to Maryland this Saturday for some stakes racing. 12% pick 5s at Laurel Park, remember that. Let’s Ride.

Race 6: 7 Furlongs. F.Wide Country Stakes

#3 Fraudulent Charge (6/1) – This filly was only beaten by a nose by the favorite in here #5 Street Lute (2/1) closing behind a moderate pace last time. She’s working well entering today and trainer Lacey Gaudet is 20% with a +$0.81 ROI with horses coming back from 46-90 days off this year.

Race 7: 7 Furlongs. F.G3 Runhappy Barbara Fritchie Stakes

*Gullet Shot of the Day #4 Estilo Talentoso (10/1) – 2nd off the layoff today, she ran well last time at Laurel Park pressing a hot pace routing. Cutting back to a sprint today she looks to get nice trip with a hot pace to stalk.

Race 8: 7 Furlongs. G3 General George Stakes

#1 Laki (9/2) – This old man is a warrior loves to win. He clipped heels last time but posted a bullet work entering today. He has the early pace to work out a good trip from the rail and is a Grade 3 winner.

Race 9: 6 Furlongs. Mdn 40k

#3 Flat Cat (4/1) – He pressed a hot pace in his debut before fading and he shouldn’t see that quick of a pace today. With a solid work and getting Lasix for the first time, the Conductor sees him taking a step forward.

Santa Anita Park: Key Horses for Sunday, February 14

Two horses with riders training on a racetrack surrounded by mountains and trees, showcasing equestrian activity in a natural setting.

3rd, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 7th yesterday for the Conductor at the Fair Grounds. Very frustrating. Back out to Santa Anita for a rebound Sunday. Let’s Ride.

Race 6: 5½ Furlongs. F.MC 20000

#3 Sugar Moon (30/1) – Call the Conductor looney tunes, but this bomb intrigues him. 1st off the claim for Val Brinkerhoff, this filly moves into a barn that can win for the first time in her career. Adding blinkers and Lasix 2nd off the layoff, she has early speed which makes her dangerous in a wide-open race. The Conductor is strongly against the favorite in here #8 Wicks and Chappies (6/5) after failing to get it done with a perfect trip at Santa Anita last time.

Race 7: 6 Furlongs. (Turf) F.G3 Sweet Life Stakes

#9 Majestic Steps (7/2) – She was very impressive breaking her maiden last time while being rank. Making her 2nd start in North America today, she should step forward.

Race 9: 1 1/8 Mile. (Turf) S.Mdn 61k

*Gullet Shot of the Day #3 Big Frank Da Tank (15/1) – He ran a decent 3rd last time at Santa Anita and looks like one that will improve with added distance. It is interesting that Prat rode him last time for such a small barn and he’s working well entering today. C’mon Tank! Skip!

Gulfstream Park: Late Pick 4 Key Horses for Friday, February 12

Horses and jockeys at the start gate during a race at Gulfstream Park.

Aesthetically looked like he was going to steal the finale at Gulfstream Thursday at 16/1, but just faded late. Hopefully a few passengers cashed the exacta or tri. Let’s get a few of these bombs across the wire first Friday. Skip.

Race 7: 1 Mile. (Turf) OC 75000n1x

#7 Hot Blooded (12/1) – If this colt is anything close to his morning line, the Conductor will throttle it to the Gulfstream windows. His lone turf effort was by far his best, beating open stakes company. Working well for a strong barn off the layoff and getting Lasix for the first time, he has major upside.

Race 8: 1 Mile. S.OC 12500n1x

#6 Our Fantazy (9/5) – Drawn well to the outside, she’s faster than the favorite and the Ductor sees her getting the job done.

Race 9: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.OC 62500b

*Gullet Shot of the Day #8 Sun Summers (9/2) – She’s 3 for her last 5 and hasn’t missed the board in those starts, all coming at different tracks. She was miles best in her last start, stuck behind horses down the stretch and galloping out well past the others. The Conductor is singling her.

Race 10: 1 Mile. MC 35000

#3 Weight of Glory (15/1) – He didn’t run a step last time at Gulfstream. Something clearly went wrong, but he returns to the races quickly. Taking the blinkers back off, he has early speed in a race without much pace. Trainer Guadalupe Preciado is also 6/14 with a +$4.61 ROI this year 2nd off the claim.

Gulfstream Park: Late Pick 4 Key Horses for Thursday, February 11

A few better trips yesterday could have made it a better day. However, we don’t want excuses, we want winners! With Oaklawn’s weekend being canceled, the train will be stationed at Gulfstream and Santa Anita thru Sunday. Skip.

Race 7: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.OClm 35000

*Gullet Shot of the Day #2 Appointed (15/1) – She won easily on debut and also was well bet that day for a 4% barn. She’s moved into a better barn and has every chance in this wide-open affair.

Race 8: 6 Furlongs. OClm 50000

#2 Paladio (5/1) – The Saffie runners look tough in here, but this colt intrigues the Conductor and his price will likely float up. He found his form on the class drop last time at Gulfstream and is now bumping back up vs tougher. He has the figures to win at this level and has already beaten the morning line favorite too.

Race 9: 1½ Mile. (Turf) OC 35000n1x

#6 Focus Group (5/1) – This old man is dropping out of stakes company for the first time in years. Putting the blinkers back on today, the Conductor sees him finding his way back to the winners circle.

Race 10: 1 Mile. (Turf) MC 25000

#6 Aesthetically (12/1) – He showed something sprinting in his debut at Gulfstream, making up ground on the turn. Additionally, stretching out for the first time, he has upside in another wide open affair.

Oaklawn Park: Late Pick 5 Key Horses for Friday February 5

Horses racing towards the finish line at Oaklawn Park with a large finish sign in view.

No dice on the Oaklawn #Gullet shot yesterday. Dang slippery neck, but more opportunities today, Let’s Ride.

Oaklawn Race 5: 6 Furlongs. Clm 40000n2L

#5 War Detonator (4/1) – A first time gelding after being moved into an improved barn, his form this fall gives him every chance in here and he should step forward. He looks to get a favorable trip on or near a moderate pace.

Race 6: 6 Furlongs. MC 30000

#6 Appraisal (10/1) – Dropping in class off the layoff and cutting back to a sprint, he’s working faster than Lukas runners typically do. He gets Lasix for the first time today and his race two back was very strong vs tougher.

Race 7: 6 Furlongs. S.Alw 84000n1x

#9 Captain Don (7/2) – He’s coming in off a long layoff, but is working well for a barn that brings them back ready. His form at Oaklawn on a fast track is the best of the bunch.

Race 8: 6 Furlongs. F.Alw 84000n1x

#5 Ocean Breeze (5/2) – Cutting back to a sprint, this filly is a standout in here. She’s failed as the favorite in her last three starts, but she hasn’t run poor races. The Conductor sees her being an overlay in the 3/1 range with the bettors being sick of her.

Oaklawn Race 9: 6 Furlongs. Clm 10000n2L

*Gullet Shot of the Day #1 Critic (8/1) – 2nd off the claim for a stronger barn and also switching back from synthetic to dirt, his dirt for is as good as any in here. This race has no early pace and the Conductor is hoping he’s sent from the rail.

Exterior view of the Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort building with a clear sky above.

Race 2: 5½ Furlongs. F.MC 20000

#2 Yes I’m Looking (4/1) – Switching back to dirt and dropping in class 1st off the claim for Maker, she showed talent in her debut and has been well bet against tougher fields. The Conductor sees her taking a big step forward today.

Race 3: 1 1/16 Mile. Clm 7500

#4 Ice Crush (6/1) – He won his first time routing last start and is one of the few in here in current form. Red hot Geroux takes the mount and this gelding is working well.

Race 6: 1 1/16 Mile. Clm 7500

#8 Wagon Boss (9/2) – Stretching out from a sprint on synthetic last time, he gets back to his best distance and surface today. He has multiple dirt routes that give him a chance in here and he looks to get a good trip up close to a moderate pace.

Race 7: 6 Furlongs. Clm 20000n3L

*Gullet Shot of the Day #3 Blacktop Legend (10/1) – She’s been off since the fall and is now making her 2nd start at Oaklawn in the Diodoro barn. She’s working well and has an early pace edge on this field. She beats them easily on her best day, the Conductor is praying her price stays decent.

A couple of shorties at Gulfstream Thursday, but nothing special. The Conductor can already smell a roasted hog feast after taking down Oaklawn today. Let’s Ride.

Race 2: 6 Furlongs. F.MC 10000

#12 Dixieland Dream (12/1) – In a wide-open race, the Conductor likes this filly at a price. After two poor efforts on synthetic, she switches back to dirt 3rd off the layoff. Her dirt races at Gulfstream give her every chance here and she’s working well entering today.

Race 4: 6 Furlongs. F.Alw 85000n3L

*Gullet Shot of the Day #2 Casual (4/1) – The Conductor has followed this filly ever since her Oaklawn debut. 3rd off the layoff today and cutting back to a sprint after making an early move into a hot pace last time, he loves her.

Race 5: 1 1/16 Mile. Clm 10000n2L

#2 Bear Oak (3/1) – The two Maker runners have this race over a barrel. The Conductor prefers this colt because he is making his first start in a much better barn and was already running good enough to beat this field.

Race 7: 1 1/16 Mile. Alw 84000n1x

#3 Totally Jimbo (7/2) – The Conductor thought he ran very well last time at Oaklawn with a tough trip behind a quality runner Blackberry Wine. He’s working like he’s much improved since last time as well.

Gulfstream Park: 2021 Pegasus World Cup Day Pick 6 Breakdown

A racehorse with a jockey in red and white attire competing at a horse racing event.

After day 1 at Oaklawn it looks like every Cox runner is going to fire. Shocking. We’ll worry about Oaklawn again on Sunday. We have big pools and nice fields for the Pegasus World Cup down in Florida. Let’s bring Gulfstream to its knees. Skip.

Race 7: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.G3 Marshua’s River Stakes

#1 Bella Laura (12/1) – This mare is in good form and continues to improve in the Avila barn. She looks to get a nice trip up close to a moderate pace, and the layoff is not a concern for the Conductor. Avila is 20% with a $4.10 ROI with his last 40 runners off the bench.

Other Contenders: #3 Zoelle (5/1), #6 Evil Lyn (9/2), #8 Tuned (8/1)

Race 8: 1½ Mile. (Turf) F.G3 La Prevoyante Stakes

*Gullet Shot of the Day #2 Sister Hanan (12/1) – This mare is ultra-consistent despite having trouble staying on the racetrack. 2nd off the layoff after an easy win, she looks to get a nice ground saving trip and the distance should be no problem.

pegasus world cup

Other Contenders: #1 Always Shopping (3/1), #5 Lovely Lucky (10/1), #9 Cap de Creus (12/1)

Race 9: 7 Furlongs. F.G2 2 Inside Information Stakes

#5 Piedi Bianchi (12/1) – This race looks to be the most difficult of the sequence, so if you can narrow it down you’ll have a big advantage. This mare is the biggest price on the morning line and has a major chance. Cutting back to 7 furlongs after dueling on a hot pace routing on turf, she’ll be very fit.

Other Contenders: All

Race 10: 1½ Mile. (Turf) G3 W. L. McKnight Stakes

*#1 Doswell (7/2) – The Conductor is going to lean heavily on this gelding, who ran huge last time after being stuck behind horses at the top of the stretch. That was a tougher field than this one and the added distance should be no problem as he galloped out past the winner last time. He’s been very impressive this year.

Other Contenders: #3 Mirinaque (30/1), #5 Sadler’s Joy (3/1), #7 Tide of the Sea (10/1)

Race 11: 1 3/16 Mile. (Turf) G1 Pegasus World Cup Turf

#5 Colonel Liam (7/2) – This is not a very strong Grade 1 field and this colt has the most upside. Steadily progressing for Pletcher he’s run some monster late pace figures in his last few starts and looks ready for the challenge.

Other Contenders: #8 Anothertwistafate (5/1), #11 Say the Word (6/1), #12 Social Paranoia (8/1)

Race 12: 1 1/8 Mile. G1 Pegasus World Cup

#4 Knicks Go (5/2) – The Conductor hates chalk, but this horse has turned into a full-blown freak in the Cox barn (shocking) and nobody in here is quick enough to put pressure on him early. With enough time off and solid works since the Breeders’ Cup the Conductor sees him running the off their feet.

Prices to Include Underneath: #2 Coastal Defense (15/1), #3 Independence Hall (20/1)

Oaklawn Park: Late Pick 4 Key Horses for Friday, January 22

Horses starting a race from the starting gate at Oaklawn Park with spectators in the background.

1 for 4 with a 2/1 winner was not the Thursday the Ductor wanted. Monster weekend upcoming with Oaklawn back and the Pegasus. The train needs a lump of coal, Let’s Ride.

Race 6: 1 Mile. Mdn 82k

#9 He’smyhoneybadger (4/1) – This colt had trouble at the start in his debut and showed a thunderous punch down the lane. Working bullets for Cox entering today, he’ll take a big step forward.

Race 7: 6 Furlongs. OC 80000b

*Double Barreled Buckshot #1 K J’s Nobility (15/1) – This old man loves to win and Oaklawn Park. His A race fits with this group and the Conductor liked his race two back behind C Z Rocket. His work tab suggests he’s ready to fire off the layoff.

#2 Mojo Man (8/1) – Another price with a major chance, he has wicked early pace figures. He’ll get back to a fast dirt track today and he likes Oaklawn as well.

Oaklawn

Race 8: 1 Mile. Smarty Jones Stakes

#7 Caddo River (5/2) – This cox runner ran off the screen to break his maiden last time. With solid works and a nice outside draw, they won’t beat him.

Race 9: 1 Mile. Alw 10000s

#5 River Echo (3/1) – 1st off the claim for Broberg, he’s versatile and loves to win. He’ll be tough in here.

#1 Red Again (10/1) – A price the Conductor will include, he was in good form this fall and is working well. He’s tough to pass when he gets the early lead and is 6/11 over this surface.

#3 Sunny Isle Beach (5/2) – She got the job done last time at Gulfstream off the break and is working your eyeballs out entering today. She looks tough to beat.

Race 7: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) S.OC 16000n1x

*Gullet Shot of the Day #3 Dominate Themoment (10/1) – This gelding got cooked in a hot pace last time at and they’re taking the blinkers off today. His numbers fit with this group and he gets a rider upgrade.

Gulfstream Park

Race 8: 6 Furlongs. Clm 35000

#7 Shot (8/1) – Lightly raced, dropping in class and with a nice outside draw, he fits right in this spot.

Race 9: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) F.Clm 35000n2L

#1 Obstinate (20/1) – This race is wide open and this filly caught the Conductor’s attention at a big number. Making her 1st start off a layoff for the Keneally, she showed ability in 2019 and Alvarado takes the mount for a barn he never rides for. Keneally is ice cold at this meet and may be trying to sneak her back at a lower level than she is capable.

Race 10: 5 Furlongs. (Turf) MC 20000

#6 Blakenstein (5/1) – This colt was no match for a blowout winner in his debut, but he was well bet and showed early speed. He has some turf in his blood, so the switch to the grass shouldn’t hurt. #7 Joyful Surprise (5/2) is the one to beat.
