This race made the Conductor puke on himself and almost choke to death on his own vomit.  He was rolling at Del Mar picking winners left and right, alive to some big scores, wins and gets nothing.

She cuts the #9 off a little bit but #Excellent Sunset was clear at the time. It was a great sell job by the jockey, but the #9 was never going to win.  Tough to promote the sport when this shit happens.  If Baffert trained the #4 they would have left her up.  Joke.

Race 8: 5 ½ Furlongs. F.MC 32000

#10 Orca – 8th at 9/1

All in all, a solid start to the meet with two 2/1 winners and a 5/1 lock of the day victory for the Conductor’s top picks.  Let’s have a hell of a Saturday.

Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup Recap

The Conductor needed to regroup after the Breeders’ Cup madness.  An up and down day Saturday didn’t lead us to glory, but the Conductor isn’t phased.  He’ll hop back aboard and continue to fire.  Life on the rails isn’t for the faint of heart.

Race 3: Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint Breakdown

Top Picks: 13-11-5-1

This race completely fell apart with the scorching pace set by #1 Selcourt. This led to 25/1 #14 Shamrock Rose getting the job done and the Conductor’s picks falling backwards.

Race 4: Turf Sprint Breakdown

Top Picks: 8-11-5-1-7

If you switched the 8 out with the 9, the Conductor handed out the ice cold superfecta.  #11 World Approval ran too good to lose and #9 Stormy Liberal surprised the Conductor at 7/1.

Race 5: Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile Breakdown

Top Picks: 10-1-6-2

#10 Catalina Cruiser didn’t fire, but #1 City of Light put on a show and #6 Seeking the Soul ran a huge 2nd to give the Conductor and us passengers a nice 22/1 exacta.

Race 6: Filly and Mare Turf Breakdown

Top Picks: 6-1-9-12-2

#6 Sistercharlie got the job done for Chad at 3/1 and #9 A Raving Beauty ran huge for 3rd.  The Conductor’s underneath key #14 Eziyra didnt show up for him.

Race 7: Breeders’ Cup Sprint Breakdown

Top Picks: 2-9-8-5

#9 Roy H was dominant in victory and the Conductor was correct to play against the favorite #5 Imperial Hint.

Race 8: Breeders’ Cup Mile Breakdown

Top Picks: 5-8-15-1

This was the hardest race to cap for the Conductor and it showed in his results.  #15 Divisidero gave the Conductor a brief glimmer of hope at 35/1, but other than that his opinions stunk.  #7 Expert Eye just got up at 5/1.

Race 9: Breeders’ Cup Distaff Breakdown

Top Picks: 2

This is the race that ruined the Conductor’s day. #2 Abel Tasman didn’t run a step and proved that her poor prep race was not an aberration.  Additionally, #11 Monomoy Girl won in style.

Race 10: BC Turf Breakdown

Top Picks: 2-5

The most thrilling race of the day and the Conductor’s best opinion.  Both fillies ran huge and the Conductor nailed the 13/1 exacta ice cold.

Race 11: Breeders’ Cup Classic Breakdown

Top Picks: 7-6-1-11

#1 Thunder Snow ran nicely for 3rd, but the Baffert runners didn’t show up for the Conductor.  The Conductor was also against the favorite #14 Accelerate, who was much the best and made him look like a fool.

The Breeders’ Cup held its own this time against the Conductor, but this war isn’t finished. Back to the grindstone, Let’s Ride.

Power Ball Investments: Wednesday’s Winners at Keeneland

Wow, the Conductor is going to have to stop taking the train to Parx if he’s going to continue to put up goose eggs.  But we know there are no other alternatives, we need our Monday and Tuesday fix. Thankfully, we get back to Lexington today, where the Conductor has dominated the Keeneland meet.  Eight races, eight winners, and a train filled with loot heading into the back half of the week. Let’s Ride.

Race 1: 6 ½ Furlongs. F.MC 50000

#8 Shackleford County (5/2) – Well bet in her Keeneland debut, she showed good early speed then faded late.  She drops in class today and gets to run on a fast dirt track for the first time.  The Conductor sees her taking it to this field.

Race 2: 1 1/16 Mile. F.MC 50000

#1 Proud Emma (8/1) – She was bumped at the start and ran a distant 4th in her debut vs tougher.  She’s drawn well to the inside today, drops in class and should improve with the added distance.  Trainer Phillip Sims has a +$0.58 ROI stretching horses out for the first time this year and Lanerie will ride the pine to victory.

Race 3: 5 ½ Furlongs. (Turf) F.Alw 69000n1x

*Gullet Shot of the Day #3 Girls Night (15/1) – She pressed a hot pace vs tougher going 6 ½ Furlongs at Kentucky Downs last start and still held on for 4th.  She should step forward in her 2nd race off a short layoff and she’ll appreciate the cutback in distance.  They Conductor is praying for her to stay a big price.

Race 4: 6 Furlongs. F.Mdn 67k

#3 Paynter Up Mauk (10/1) – She is posting absolute bullet works leading into today, including her last at 46 and change at 4 furlongs.  Her dam has 3 winners from 5 starters including a stakes winner and the low-profile connections should keep her price juicy.

Race 5: 1 1/8 Mile. Clm 20000n2L

#10 Al Taweel (8/1) – This gelding’s last start was much better than it looks on paper.  He showed good early speed, faced some trouble and dropped back, then rallied and finished strong.  He’s working well and has a win going 1 ¼ Mile, where most of these other runners haven’t shown they can run this far. He’s a must use.

Race 6: 1 3/16 Mile. (Turf) F.Alw 69000n1x

#1 Kallio (4/1) – In a race without any pace, she should be able to work out a comfortable trip on, or near the lead.  In her last race, she pressed a hot pace and was still able to hang on at this distance.  A repeat effort wins this race.

Race 7: 7 Furlongs. OC 80000n3x

*Never a Doubt Etched in Stone Lock of the Day #6 Hot Shot Kid (3/1) – This 4-year-old continues to steadily improve, and the Conductor loves his chances today.  He was routing at this level last time and just came up short, running a solid 2nd.  Cutting back to a sprint he possess the early speed to dictate his own trip and the stamina to finish.

Race 8: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) Mdn 67k

#2 St Denman (7/2) – He crossed the wire 1st in his last start, but he was placed 2nd by DQ.  Don’t be selfish Keeneland, let this boy break his maiden.

 

Tuesday’s Trachea Shots at Parx

The Conductor started this week like he did last week, getting his teeth kicked in at Parx.  However, he made tenfold as the week continued so we can’t be worried.  I have all the confidence in the world that he will get the train back on track today.  He’s shortening up and focusing on the back half of the card with all his Breeders Cup work that needs to be done. Let’s Ride.

Race 7: 1m70yds. Clm 12500

#9 To the Victor (10/1) – This gelding’s last few starts haven’t been enticing, but they’ve been against much stronger competition.  In his last start at this level, he ran a figure above par and won with ease.  This isn’t a very strong Parx field and he has the potential to make noise at a big price.

Race 8: 6 Furlongs. Clm 16000

*Gullet Shot of the Day #11 Doddsprivatelabel (15/1) – The #1A Hey Jabber Jaw (8/5) will likely win this race, but the Conductor likes to give his passengers ponies a little less obvious.  This Ol’ Boy is a proven winner at Parx and will be flying late.  The Conductor loves the cutback to a sprint and he can spice up the exotics.

Race 9: 5 ½ Furlongs. Alw 46000n1x

*Never a Doubt New Car Tuesday Lock of the day #9 Roll Tide Roll (3/1) –  A winner at Saratoga two starts back, he like to win anytime and anywhere.  His best speed figs are the best in this group, he’s in good form and the favorite in here has much less experience.

#8 Refuseing (4/1) – The only horse in this field that can challenge the heavy favorite, his last race at Delaware Park was very strong.  Additionally, he’s won two in a row and the Conductor thinks he’s capable of legging out a triple.

Saturday’s Stocking Stuffers: Keeneland’s Keys to The Late Pick 5

Another great day yesterday as the Conductor handed out 4 winners including two 7/1 shots.  We’ll take our lump of cash and go for Keeneland’s jugular in the late pick 5.  Let’s have a weekend, Let’s Ride.

Race 6: 5½ Furlongs. (Turf) Alw 69000n1x

#10 Trappezoid (10/1) – He ran some big figures on dirt as a 3-year-old and has only raced once this year.  With maturity he has room to step forward and his dam has produced a turf winner, so the new surface doesn’t concern the Conductor.  Trainer Bret Calhoun is 19% with a +$0.37 ROI this year with runners off a 3 month+ layoff and the favorites have tough posts in here.

Race 7: 1 Mile. F.Clm 50000b

*Never a Doubt Saturday Stone Cold Lock of the Day #7 Lil Vie (3/1) – She dueled and drew off in her last start in impressive fashion.  This race is devoid of early pace and she should be able to get on the early lead where she does her best running.  She’ll take them all the way around.

Race 8: 1½ Mile. (Turf) F.Alw 71000n2x

#2 Nigh Owl (6/1) – He should improve in the second start off the long layoff and his last start was very solid.  He’ll appreciate the added distance and the Conductor loves the Billy Mott/Leparoux combo going long on the turf.  The Kentucky Downs shippers have been winning the entire Keeneland meet.

Race 9: 7 Furlongs. F.RavenRun-G2

*Gullet Shot of the Day #3 Blamed (15/1) – She’s dominated her competition at Sunland and Zia Park and now gets a chance to take on the big girls.  The Conductor loves her steady progression, wins at multiple distances and trainer upgrade to Mott.  She’s as fast as any of these other girls on paper and the Conductor prays her price stays high.

#1 Lady Leah (5/1) – Drawn well to the inside, she was heavily bet in her debut and ran a quality 2nd.  She figures to enjoy the added distance she gets today and the Conductor also loves that Jose Ortiz road her in her debut as well.
