Race 4: 1 1/16 Mile. (Turf) F.Alw 120000n2
*Gullet Shot of the Day #3 Mammas Girl (15/1) – This is an asinine morning line, but this filly still should be an overlay. She’s run well against tougher across the pond, including a Grade 3 victory. In her first start in the US last time, she had no chance after breaking slow and sitting way back behind a tepid pace. She still ran a strong late pace figure that day and figures to improve with that experience. Adding Lasix for the first time, Mammas Girl is going to make Daddy Ductor proud today. Skip.
Race 8: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.G1 First Lady Stakes
#1 Gina Romantica (10/1) – This filly has been running well going longer in her last couple of starts, including a good 2nd last time. She had no chance closing behind the odds on favorite setting a slow pace, but still ran a convincing 2nd. There will be a quick pace set in this race and she looks to get a perfect ground saving trip. Could we really get double digit odds on a Grade 1 winner over this Keeneland turf course? Probably not, but 6/1 or better is fair.
Race 9: 1 1/16 G1 Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity
#1 The Wine Steward (8/1) – #9 Locked (7/5) probably handles this group, but the Wine Steward is the one price that intrigues the Conductor. This New York bred has beaten open company and has improved with each start. His last race at Saratoga was very impressive. He dropped to his knees at the break, was in the parking on the turn, and still gamely ran down the loose leader. Stretching out to two turns for the first time today at Keeneland, this colt is dangerous.
