Racehorse Roy H with jockey in teal silks racing on a dirt track at a horse racing event.

The Conductor’s lock of the day landed for the 2nd day in a row, but we’re not hitting many other prices.  Finally, the weather has cooperated, and the train gets to head back to Santa Anita where it belongs.  Let’s have ourselves a Saturday, Let’s Ride.

Race 1: 6½ Furlongs. (Turf) Clm 25000n2L

*Gullet Shot of the Day #5 George From Tahoe (4/1) – He ran a good 3rd vs similar on dirt last start and his best race came on this turf course in his debut.  He’s the only runner in the field that’s proven down the hill and he’s posting bullet works.

Santa Anita

Race 2: 5 ½ Furlongs. S.MC 50000

Race 3: 1 Mile. F.Clm 20000

#4 Mistressofthenight (7/2) – She was a beaten favorite last start, but she set a hot pace and ran a solid figure.  She’s beaten much tougher than this group in her career and gets back to Santa Anita where she runs her best.

Race 4: 6 Furlongs. Clm 12500

#7 Tavasco Road (8/1) – Drawn well to the outside, this gelding is dropping out of a stakes race that came out very fast on the Conductor’s numbers. He’s also 1/1 at Santa Anita.

Race 5: 1 Mile. (Turf) Mdn 55k

#8 Storms River (7/2) – Heavily bet in his first two starts, this boy will stretch out for the first time.  His even running style suggests he’ll appreciate longer.

Race 6: 6 ½ Furlongs. Clm 16000n3L

#4 Zippy Groom (8/1) – This group is evenly matched, and the Conductor is going for the longest shot on the board. Additionally, the Roman/Hess jockey trainer combo has been hot recently.

Race 7: 6 Furlongs. Mdn 55k

#3 Adare (8/1) – If you want to try to beat the Baffert runners, this colt is well-bred and his dam is 2/2 producing winners, including a stakes winner. Frano/Holledorfer are also a red-hot jockey/trainer combo.

Race 8: 6½ Furlongs. (Turf) Alw 50000s

*Never a Doubt Sicko 5/1 Lock of the Day #7 More Honor (5/1) – He is 2/3 with a 2nd down the hill winning from off the pace and on the lead.  5/1 gets the Conductor tingly.

Santa Anita

Race 9: 6 Furlongs. G2 Palos Verdes

#4 St. Joe Bay (6/1) – If there is a time to beat the heavy favorite #7 Roy H (4/5), its today off the layoff.  This hard knocker ran a big figure in his win last start and runs his best at Santa Anita.

Race 10: 6½ Furlongs. (Turf) F.MC 50000

#8 Dearborn (9/5) – Dropping to the claiming ranks for the first time, she looks to be too much for this group.

Force Feed Friday: The Conductor’s Plays at Gulfstream Park

Black and white photograph of a crowd outside Millbury Savings Bank during the Great Depression.

The Conductor’s Lock hit in the opener and another shorty in the 2nd race at Gulfstream yesterday.  From there we went downhill quickly.  We don’t want a big day, us passengers need one Conductor. We have families to feed, Let’s Ride.

PT 12:35pm ET Race 1: 1 Mile. F.Clm 20000

Race 2: 5 Furlongs. (Turf) F.Clm 16000n2L

#1 Sold on Salsa (5/1) – This filly pressed a hot pace and ran a decent 5th at this level lest start and she should improve in her 2nd start off the layoff.  She should get the early lead today, which is what she needs.

Race 3: 1 Mile. F.Mdn 50k

#2 Restructure (9/2) – She was heavily bet vs tougher in her debut and ran a solid effort.  She’s been off since May, but has been working well for good connections.

Race 4: 5 Furlongs. (Turf) Clm 30000n2L

*Scratched #3 Macho Blue (6/1) – He freaked in his first try on grass last start, winning with ease.  He’s stepping up in class today, but the Conductor’s numbers never lie.

Gulfstream

Race 6: 5 Furlongs. (Turf) OClm 25000

*Gullet Shot of the Day #5 The Queens Jules (10/1) – He has a lesser known trainer, which should keep his price high.  His win last start was very impressive, and he is steadily progressing.

Race 8: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.OC 62500n2x

Race 9: 1 1/16 Mile. OC 75000n1x

#9 Art G is Back (10/1) – You don’t see many colts close into slow paces and win like he did in the 1st start of his career.  Especially at Gulfstream Park.

Race 10: 1 Mile (Turf) F.MC 20000

#6 Molly’s Party (8/5) – If this filly doesn’t win today, she never will.

Throat Shot Thursday: Gulfstream Park Plays

A man reading a newspaper next to a person in a horse costume, showcasing a unique interaction in a vintage setting.

The Conductor may not be able to afford his trip to the Pegasus after this week. The train is leaking oil badly. Luckily, we get back to home base for the rest of the week and get to play the track the Conductor loves most, Santa Anita.  Just kidding, the card at Santa Anita got cancelled. To Gulfstream we go, Let’s Ride.

Race 1: 1 Mile. Clm 12500n3L

*Never a Doubt Out of the Gate Lock of the Day #5 Tale of Fire (2/1) – He drops in class and his last race crushes this field.  With Navarro at Gulfstream he’ll win for fun.

#5 Bebeau (2/1) – Pletcher is heating up and the Conductor liked this boy’s debut effort. That’s good enough for me.

Race 4: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.S. OC 16000n1x

#1 Reagan’s Odyssey (5/2) – She just missed at this level last start and is in good form.  She’s the only one in the field that can beat the #8 Chad Brown filly.

Race 5: 1 1/16 Mile. F.Mdn 50k

Race 6: 6 Furlongs. F.Clm 6250n3L

*Gullet Shot of the Day #6 Blue Whale (12/1) – She ran the highest last figure in the field with her win last start.  At a big price, that’s all the Conductor needs to see.

#8 Nobiz Like Jetbiz (12/1) – This colt showed good early speed on dirt in his debut and is 1st off the claim for red hot trainer Jorge Duarte Jr.  Saez also takes the mount, this boy must be live.

Race 8: 1 Mile. Clm 20000

#4 For Reef’s Sake (10/1) – Her debut was taken off the turf, and she still didn’t run poorly. She’s bred for the turf and her dam has produced 6 winners from 7 starters.

Wind Pipe Whack Wednesday: Gulfstream Park Plays

A thrilling horse race at Gulfstream Park featuring multiple jockeys and horses in action on a dirt track.

The Conductor started slowly out of the gate yesterday, but two 4/1 winners late made for an ok day.  We’re still in a hole from Monday, but nothing a trip down to Florida can’t fix. The Conductor is sharpening his axe for the Pegasus in two weeks.  Gulfstream will not survive. Let’s Ride.

PT 12:35pm ET Race 1: 5 Furlongs. (Turf) MC 25000

Race 5: 1 Mile. (Turf) Clm 16000

#1 Mongo Nation (12/1) – He’s taking a big drop in class and Jose Ortiz stays aboard for a very small barn.  The Conductor will bet Jose knows this boy will run today.

Race 9: 1 Mile. F.OC 62500n2x

Massacre Monday: The Conductor’s Punts at Parx

Sign for Parx Racing displayed above starting gate with numbered positions.

The Conductor was out watching the NFL playoffs yesterday and didn’t get to see the races run.  He awoke from his slumber on his friend’s couch this morning after too many stews last night and his bank account told him his picks stunk yesterday.  That means he has no choice but to play Parx on this fine Monday.  This week’s journey starts today, Let’s Ride.

Sabbath Sunday: The Conductor’s Prayers at Santa Anita Park

A priest in a white robe holding a bell and blessing a brown horse inside a church.

The rain ruined the card at Santa Anita yesterday, with a lot of scratches and races taken off the turf.  The Conductor made due with a few short-priced winners including his Lock of the day, but we want big fields and big prices.  Without any precipitation in the forecast, the card should stay intact today.  C’mon California, you’re not allowed to rain, that’s why the Conductor plays your circuit. Stop being selfish, Let’s Ride.

PT 3:30pm ET Race 1: 1 Mile. (Turf) MC 50000
