The rain ruined the card at Santa Anita yesterday, with a lot of scratches and races taken off the turf. The Conductor made due with a few short-priced winners including his Lock of the day, but we want big fields and big prices. Without any precipitation in the forecast, the card should stay intact today. C’mon California, you’re not allowed to rain, that’s why the Conductor plays your circuit. Stop being selfish, Let’s Ride.
PT 3:30pm ET Race 1: 1 Mile. (Turf) MC 50000
#3 Carbon Zero (7/2) – He’s taking a huge class drop and has just missed vs much tougher competition. He’s run his best races with the Cajun in the saddle, who hops back in the irons today.
Race 2: 7 Furlongs. F.Clm 12500
*Never a Doubt Sunday Night Scary Preventer Lock of the Day #5 Duranga (4/1) – 1st off the claim for trainer Peter Miller, she’s dropping in class, working well and has recent figures that can beat this group.
Race 3: 1 Mile (Turf) S.OC 80000n3x
#7 Shivermetimbers (7/2) – Dropping out of a G2 stakes race, this colt continues to progress and will show the adults whose boss.
Race 4: 6½ Furlongs. F.Kalookan Queen Stakes 75k
#1 Lake Time (6/1) – The obvious heavy favorite is #4 Selcourt (2/5), but this mare is steadily improving and is running very solid figures for this level. Ice cold 4/1 exacta with a little on the 1 to win if Selcourt stubs her toe.
Race 5: 6½ Furlongs. (Turf) Clm 40000
#5 Cimpl Man (5/1) – He’s been running quality races vs tougher and has good numbers down the hill. His recent works are also very strong.
Race 6: 1 Mile. MC 30000
#5 Fortnite Dance (9/5) – The Conductor can’t come up with anything creative in here. He’ll go with these damn kids do these days instead of betting ponies like men.
Race 7: 6 Furlongs. Clm 6250
*Gullet Shot of the Day #2 Tomasino (15/1) – This Ol’ man has strong early pace figures and was only beaten 2 ½ lengths last start vs tougher. He’s working well and can beat this field at a monster number.
Race 8: 1 Mile. Alw 50000s
#1 Bea’s Boy (6/1) – This colt has been facing tougher and been running the highest speed figures in the field sprinting. This will his 1st time stretching out to route, but his even running style suggests to the Conductor that he’ll appreciate longer.
Race 9: 6 Furlongs. S.Mdn 55k
*Double Barreled Shotgun Slugs #7 Wild Bean (8/1) – He’s working like a rocket at Santa Anita and his dam has produced 6 winners from 6 starters. Van Dyke also hops aboard for a lesser known barn.
#10 Toby Time (20/1) – This longshot’s workouts are impressive and he’s debuting for a barn that is hot.
