It’s a deluge down at Gulfstream Park today, so the Conductor will keep the train in Phoenix for another day at Turf Paradise. He liked the racing there yesterday and was just a little off from having a monster day. Time for a direct Adam’s apple shot, it’s windpipe whack Wednesday, Let’s Ride.
Race 1: 5½ Furlongs. Clm 3000b
*Gullet Shot of the Day #2 MoreoftheSame (10/1) – He ran strong early pace figures last start, dueling for the lead the entire way. He was a good 2nd at this level two starts back and has run numbers that can beat this group.
Race 2: 1 Mile. 6 Furlongs. Moc 30000
#7 Spittin Havoc (3/1) – Drawn well to the outside he looks to get a good trip in a wide-open race.
Race 3: 1 Mile. Clm 8500n2L
#4 I B EZ (4/1) – The Conductor like him yesterday and he scratched for this spot. Stretching out to a route for the first time he has a pace edge over this group.
Race 4: 1 Mile. (Turf) F.Clm 6250n4L
#6 Shoeless Jackson (8/1) – She showed a big progression last start and can surprise this group up close to or on a slow pace.
Race 5: 5½ Furlongs. F.Clm 3000b
#5 Devil’s Wildcat (6/1) – This filly ran a much improved 4th last start after getting loose behind the gate pre-race. She should take another step forward in her 3rd start off the layoff.
Race 6: 6 Furlongs. MC 5000
*Never a Doubt Humpday Lock #6 War Link (2/1) – 2nd off the claim for top trainer Jeffrey Metz, he’ll blow them away cutting back to a sprint.
Race 7: 6 Furlongs. Clm 3500n2L
#6 Big Pebble (5/2) – He hasn’t raced in over a year, but he’s working well for top connections. If he’s any semblance of himself, he wins.
Race 8: 1 Mile. (Turf) Moc 30000
#2 Maricopa County (5/1) – Going two sprints to a route, this gelding has run strong late pace figures. Turf Paradise trainer Bobbie Grissom is 26% with a +$2.21 ROI moving horses from dirt to turf this year.
